And the tweaking continues...this time on the flight performance. Out of the box, the AS Bobcat had a top speed of 165 MPH....which is about the actual plane's cruise speed. So, into the config file I dive, a little tweak here, a little tweak there and here are the tested speeds:
ALT: 1200 ASL
Payload: 180 pound pilot and co-pilot, 120 gallons of fuel
MAX:
Settings: Full throttle, full prop RPM, full rich
168 Knots IAS, which is approximately 194 MPH...which is within a mile or two of real max airspeed specs for this plane.
CRUISE:
Settings: 20 pound manifold pressure, 1800 RPM prop speed, full rich
134 KIAS which is approximately 155 MPH....which is 5 to 20 miles less than what I have seen stated as cruise speed (Wikipedia lists cruise at 175 MPH, a Bobcat owner/flyer in a Youtube vid stated that his fully restored Bobcat, with a total of about 450 flight hours since the day it was made, has a cruise of 160 MPH). Fuel consumption at the listed settings and altitude is 10.1 gallons per hour...which would give a range of roughly 930 miles...which is about 180 miles too much...but I think we can live with that.
All in all, the plane's performance levels are close enough to real world that I am happy with them, and I think most people who use this tweaked/improved Bobcat will be as well.
