...is here in somewhat crippled form, but this is not slowing down my download in any way.
It looks stunning.
VC updates will follow.

It does look great [(despite the "jaggies" in the bulk of the screenies) I can't believe someone there doesn't have a high end graphics card for shooting those for promotional purposes!] Price is a bit ouchy but I'd guess not too out of line for such a massive project. I've been waiting for this one, but will likely wait for the full release.
Please do post some screenshots Wing_Z. :mixedsmi:

I am not nearly as impressed; those screens look worse than the ones they showed 2 years ago?!? I don't get it.
Speaking only for me, I kind of prefer "crap" screens with lots of jaggies and horrible graphics. That's how it'd look on my PC, so by my standards it looks just fine. They are not pretty, but they are the only sim world I know. I don't much care how it looks on a PC with a million gigs of RAM and the latest Nvidia something-or-other, on my PC it'll look crappy, so if it can look good by crappy PC standards, it's fine by me.

Of course, this is just my topsy-turvy way of thinking! :icon_lol:

Charl , shes great , airshow curcuits will be fun :icon_lol:
New powered up pc , had to check this thing in FS9 , best of both is what they do at Alphasim , their models everything the same as the X model

Be interested to hear if the FSX model has any benefits over the FS9 flavour - I would guess not, given it's essentially the same thing tweaked.
I've also waited a long time for this, and will wait patiently for the VC.
Brave to hold off until it's right, and I agree 100%.
Nice shots Ian - I should've guessed this one would attract your instant attention!
Your second shot is pretty close to one I took at Whenuapai previously...

Here's a couple more, I'm sure there will be plenty to follow.
I must remember which AI package it was that dropped a bunch of these at EDDF Frankfurt (where these shots were taken btw).

Oh and PS: I'm using the GMAX Academy C-17 2D panel until the avionics are fixed.
Works well...

Thanks Charl , matey , i'll get that GMAX C17 panel , i did search this morn for another no result , essentially , yes it is , the model is exactly the same :running:

Great Screens

Oh and PS: I'm using the GMAX Academy C-17 2D panel until the avionics are fixed.

Ehm - this panel was afaik originally released with the FS2002 Project Open Sky C-17 and was created by Igor Suprunov.
Too bad that this old POSky bird suffers from the usual FS2002 issues in FS2004 (fans, gear, control surfaces...) - it was an outstanding rendition!

Cheers,
Markus.

The screenshots look so real. But.

For the life of me, I can't believe they released it in the state it's in. It's incomplete to say the least. Ridiculous. I'll be watching this thread. And keeping an eye for when it gets updated. When it's RTF as expected, then, and only then will I consider giving them my hard earned cash

The screenshots posted on this topic by my fellow SOHer's are nice looking but $60 dollars for an incomplete model - no thanks.
It would cost me more than FS9 itself to buy.

I hear ya, OleBoy. :applause: I've always enjoyed excellent service from Alphasim and have been very happy with all of my purchases...but I'm afraid they dropped the ball on this one. If only Alphasim still had a forum maybe they could have asked the customers if they would prefer to purchase half the product right now or wait a bit longer for the completed product.

VRS Superbug: $45.....and worth it. Super complex systems, and groundbreaking features. Alphasim absolutely must release a V1.1 that blows people away....complete, fully clickable VC...with FMS and all the real C-17 goodies....to warrant a $60 purchase.

Agreed. $60 for a model. Is this one the holy grail of their work? Granted I have only bought a couple of their pieces. Two years this has been in revision. Yet to me, considering the times, it seems they chop off foot for spite.

It is a beautiful piece of work, what I see. But my wife is more so.

Sorry, I only bring negative thoughts when it's relative.

I'd go along with the thought that the VC needs to be something better than AS have ever done, for this price.
Especially a fully-functional HUD, as there will be no 2D panel, which is what I prefer to look at, flying big heavy multi-engines.
A few more screens:

Anyone care to comment on the flight model? Many Alphasim releases tend to have FDE's that are....'quirky'?
Early days but it doesn't seem to have any outstandingly bad habits - I can land it without looking like a kangaroo!

Well I hope you fixed your kangaroo Mirage 2000, C24, and having seen your video of what you did with the SAAB, I think you should stay away from this one :d

I'm waiting for the real deal, period.
One aircraft I really do want but I have sufficient patience to hang out for the complete package.
