Alphasim redoes freeware page...they now all come with panels in place

Yep, head over to the Alphasim site, click on the Freeware tab and it will take you to a new file sharing page with the freeware stuff Alphasim has blessed us with over the years...and they now all come with their original 2D and VC panels intact, with gauges. I just downloaded one of the Alphasim F-4s...and it sure as heck had the panel and gauges included!

Oh, if you don't have the Alphasim site linked, just do a google search for Alphasim. It will be the first one on the page....then go to the home page, then click the Freeware tab.

Oh, heck...here's a bloody link for ya:

Gentlemen,

This is not only great news for that alone, but they have FINALLY released their great Fairey Swordfish for CFS2!!!

This aircraft is multi-lod with solid frame rates, and is more realistic in performance than the Gorundcrew model. It is THE Swordfish I've used for CFS2 (especially the Swordfish campaign) for YEARS.

It has three skins, a Taranto skin (perfect for that carrier strike) a 1941 skin, and a MAC skin for those later escort carriers.

If you'd like, I can upload a converted .dp file that allows you to have the exact same weapons loadout that the Groundcrew model has.

The only difference is you don't get the sound pack, but overall it's still wonderful.

Make sure to pick it up, it is truly an outstanding gift! :ernae:

Here's a preview of the lady: http://www.flightsim.com/main/review/sword.htm

Here's a .dp which allows you to use the Groundcrew weapons for her, giving her the exact same weapons loadout as the Groundcrew Swordfish.

Not knowing if you're aware of this part.

HUGE PICTURE!!!

From the included read-me;

These files are all freeware. There is no restriction at all on their use.

They are the oldest files we have, going back 5-10 years. Most if not all will work in CFS1 and probably in CFS2 and FS2002. In CFS2 they make good mission target aircraft (AI), you can throw many of them on screen with no FPS drop. You might be able to get them into FS2004 with the right aircraft.cfg headers etc.

All have panels and gauges, so these may be of some use to developers.

Scenery designers may be able to use them as static library object, most are very low poly, just a few hundred faces in some cases, ideal for populating airfields.

Thanks Alphasim!

In the past, I've always reciprocated for free aircraft with the purchase of a new one. No more CFS 2 aircraft to buy, but I've been considering the Skyray for FS 9 for sometime now. Just love those early jets.

Dunno what I'm doing wrong, but I'm getting 35FPM in the VC of the Swordfish, and only 6fps when looking at 'er out side. I haven't had frames like that since my ancient Windows 98 system.

Wulf190,

This aircraft is VERY sensitive in one respect, and it's the only one I've found that is this way.

Go into "settings," then click on "advanced settings" and under "Advanced 3-D hardware options" make sure the T and L box is checked with an "X."

No worries, bud. I knew this question was coming. :d

Since we're on the subject, here is a "tweak guide" in case any of you would like you know about the advanced graphics options: http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/cfs2/cfs3.shtml

I'm having trouble getting the B-25J to show up for work. The sound file is aliased to the stock P-38, so that's not what's wrong. I've also tried an alised panel, and the a/c still won't show in Free Flight. Is something going on in the mdl file? Any help would be appreciated.
