AlphaSim S-55 VC Question

Anyone else have this in FSX and having problems getting the main panel texture to show? It seems to be the only texture that doesn't want to display and I'm not sure why. Currently the panel area simply shows black (also the windscreen trim).

After doing some searching, I found a thread from over a year ago that mentioned the VC problem. . .several were experiencing the same thing I am now. The conversation went on for several posts and then abruptly quit. My guess is it was solved via some PM's and the solution was never posted.

I have a "vpanel_t.dds" file in the main texture folder and there are texture configs in the other texture folders for "fallback info". All liveries display the same way and the only bitmaps in the panel folder are the 2D and a few pop-up backgrounds and that's it.

I just wanted to confirm that I have that same exact problem with the VC of that bird. Black panel background, exactely like in the screenshot above :/

The fix was posted here on SOH last year or so perhaps longer, if I remember it was a missing texture or something like that.
I may have it on one of my 30 or so back up disks so when I get a chance I'll check for it. It's one of the many aircraft I have not got around to reinstalling in FSX since my great Windows 7 OS crash of 2012.

Ok, now the vpanel_t texture is the correct texture for the VC panel. The panel.cfg file calls for the normal $vpanel.bmp which is usually not an editable texture, it's usually not even included as a file rather it's just referencing the placeholder that is part of the mdl file, so my concern is that there is no fix short of an updated mdl file.

This is a texture file reference issue, and the fix is easy. The VC panel should look like the image here. In the Vcockpit section, make sure the reference to the file “$vpanel.bmp” is as shown, and make sure the file is in the panel folder, named appropriately, and all will be well.

//--------------------------------------------------------
[Vcockpit01]
file=$vpanel.bmp
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$vpanel

EDIT: I've atteched the file, if needed.

Bingo! I tried everything but moving the file to the panel config and renaming it. I assumed it should be calling the texture vpanel_t and the $vpanel file was simply a placeholder for that texture. Much appreciated PRB!!:applause::salute:

Thanks for this, I always had the same problem but never got around to asking about a possible solution.

Thanks to all involved.

Best,
