Alphsim Liberator??

dougal

Charter Member 2016
I guess I'm waaaay behind...

I've only just now discovered that Alphasim have folded. Only found out 'cos I was looking for help with the B24 Liberator...

Wonder if any of you guys can help?

There seems to be an issue when using hardware controllers for the throttles, props, turbo's and mixture. A message appears also confirming this.

It won't climb above about 12000ft as the engine mixtures keep resetting back to rich.

Is there a way of using this aircraft with hardware throttles?

Thanks

Alphasim basically reqrouped and is now Virtavia. Alphasim's website is still up and explains all this in addition to providing a link to their online support.

Basically the same crew so support by the individual developers is at times available. I've brought this to the B-24 developer's attention.
:ernae:

I can find no working forum for either the old mob or the new mob.

Anyone know how to get Alphasim forum support?

Cheers

"The AlphaSim database and store login will be maintained indefinitely and anyone wanting tech support or a download counter reset needs only to e-mail the usual address or use the Virtavia.com support ticket system. The AlphaSim Freeware pages will be maintained and linked to at the Virtavia site."

Good luck.

Thanks for that. Sadly though, it doesn't work. Just sit's with the 'egg timer' running after trying to send a ticket. Seems they don't wanna be contacted.

It's a real shame. I think they made some good aircraft.

I managed to contact Virtavia.

They're simply not interested in supporting the product, refering me instead to CH, the throttle manufacturer.

If anyone has the old information about how to opperate the B24 with throttles, I really would be most grateful.

How do others opperate the turbo chargers separate from the throttles? By just 'dragging' the VC leavers?

Any help welcome

Hey Dougal,

natively such things are not supported. We had to code turbos from the ground up for our 377, using our own logic and then using simconnect to add it into FSX. The non native route is I believe why the lib wont work with both levers active.

No idea if FSUIPC thingymejig could help with controller assignments but I dont believe so.

thanks,
Lewis

Thanks Lewis

It was indeed your wonderfull 377 that made me 'assume' it was normal and no big deal.

I'm surprised at the lack of response here though. I would have thought the B24 would be popular here.

I thought it was a good addon, but I don't know much about the real bird.

Am I wrong? Is it not a good addon?

Thanks

For those not fussed about engine management (I believe the B24 was pre engine man addons) I think its fine.

Its fine to jump in and fly, nice model, nice cockpit nice sounds. I personally dont like the technique used to model the props but you can mod these slightly to taste, I remember a few chaps here modding the props to change the visual apperance.

I'm a bit bias however as I prefer the big birds with 4 engines over the little fighters, I'd take the B24/B17/Lancaster over a spit/mustang/tunderbolt

I really like it.

Trouble is, I just can't get it above about 13000ft!!!

The mixtures lean out okay with CH yoke controller, but I'm guessing the issue is about the controller not correctly working the turbos?

Also, does anyone know what the following statement might mean? It's taken from the somewhat inadequate manual:

Throttle Levers 1 - 4
(Att.: Full Thrust with max Turbochargers
plus max. Throttles only!)

Bringing this one back from the dead.

So, has anyone added new internal views to the Lib? Maybe a nose/Nav position or the upper turret?

How about the actual use of an external throttle? Setting power for takeoff is easy with the mouse, but landing is a bit tougher.

Thanks!
Jeff
