A good day to everybody! :wavey:

I just uploaded alternative 3-blade propeller textures for A.F.Scrub's Chance Vought F4U1 "birdcage" Corsair for FS9, converted to CFS2 by SOH's member Nicholas K. Lang, a.k.a. BoeingvsAirbusNKL, and available here at SOH.

Full disc and individual blade textures to choose from and a Green Ghost's DAP gauge-controlled exhaust effect are included.

Uploaded to "CFS2-Effects" section and available when approved.

Enjoy!

Thank you everybody! I had the corruption problem myself in the past. My Winzip stubbornly insisted they were parts of spanned (broken down in multiple *.zip) archives.

When I used 7Zip or WinRar to open them everything was fine. Try changing the dezipping utility you are using.

Cheers!

Hi Gaucho!

Do you mean you can't open the conversion pack or the prop pack I uploaded?

If you mean the former, try using more recent unzipping utilities than older Winzip, like WinRar or 7Zip. BoeingvsAirbusNKL probably used one of these two to upload his conversion and the resulting *.zip file conflicts with Winzip.

Cheers!

Thanks Mr.Kelticheart! The great thing about this (also) , we can use it in many planes of Scrub.

You're welcome Mario!

Yyyes...I believe Scrub's "propdisk3.bmp" texture file will fit his other models, but I am not 100% sure. Post a list of Scrub's converted aircrafts you want to change the original texture with mine and, if I have them, I'll test the size of their blurred disc to confirm it.

I am saying this because, since I started doing blurred prop textures, I encountered so many disc size differences among the same designer's production that I never stand behind "kelti-style" prop replacements taken from my uploads. :dejection:
Remember that the disc size in the blurred texture alpha channel determines whether or not the circle outline will be displayed perfectly round (as it is in real life) or polygonal-jagged, and if the prop blades length matches the blurred disc diametre.

A polygonal outline means the texture diametre is too wide and it's quite bizarre watching a blurred disc shrinking, compared to the prop blades length, when the engine starts. Have you got any strictly stock plane installed? Switch to external view, zoom in on the engine and watch what happens when the prop starts getting blurred. :frown-new:
It was this upsetting discovery which spurred me back in 2005-06 to start working on more accurate blurred propeller textures.

I wrote this on these pages many times over: each addon plane needs a tailored, custom blurred prop texture. Very recently here:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforu...-Prop-question&p=860137&viewfull=1#post860137

There were times when I could use the same texture on different models from the same designer, but not as many as one would expect.

Cheers!

Hi Mario,

I just had a confirmation of what I stated above. Yesterday I placed the Corsair prop disc textures on the nose of Scrub's Spitfire LF MkVB/C, you converted and posted not a long time ago with SC's great repaints.

They do not fit. Let me rephrase, they do fit but they look wrong, because the alpha disc texture is too wide and the result displays a weird outer circumference.

I had to reduce the circumference of three pixels before it looked ok. This demonstrates you cannot use the Corsair blurred discs I did on all of Scrub's production.

The Spitfire gauge-controlled exhaust effect is ready and the prop textures are 99% done. I'll be uploading the pack next week.

Cheers!
