Am I getting too fussy

I don't know but one of the things that's putting me off AH originated aircraft is the weathering effects that I've noticed in both the Mossie and the Connie where it looks as if the aircraft has been sitting in hanger, mucky stuff has fallen from the roof and dripped vertically down the aircraft. Also being in the same place on each aircraft colour scheme makes it look silly when side by side on the ramp.

To me it does not look right and while I like the aircraft they have done its putting me off their products.

I would also like to see proper paintkits rather than the .dds files you sometimes get ie for the L-049 but not the other Connie's.

In most cases I prefer a clean tidy aircraft, certainly in airliners as they have to impress the punters.

Perhaps I'm getting to old?

I agree - very few get weathering looking right. Often it is over done. Its OK if repaint kits offer a weather layer to include or exclude.

Give me a good looking, fully functional VC and great flight dynamics, I'm happy. Outside could be a cardboard box for all I care, sometimes. :icon_lol:

Agreed, LOL.

I can see your point on the paint, but I doubt the developer can read minds and provide for everyone's quirky tastes.

I agree with Michael,

Its hard to make a plane that 'everyone' likes. There will always be some that dont like certain parts about it. Its one of those 'oh well' things.

But, the beauty of FS is that you can really go through and modify so much of 'everything', game engine aside.. (I would like to create Mars and other planets with FS, lol). Kidding aside, you can modify scenery, planes, clouds, etc.. For instance, on interior graphics, you could get Gimp or PhotoShop and start learning graphics and play around with how they did the interior and start changing it. For some, it might be difficult, for others that are driven and want to learn and know exactly what they want, its easy. Hours turn into seconds for them. Doing a repaint of things that you alone are happy with can really bring a sense of accomplishment.

I remember in the FS2002 days and into the FS2004 days, we had VC 'views', 2d photos of the interior of planes. Some were really rough as the author of that plane had only access to a retired, rough old plane. Thats all he had to go with to aquire the angle shots (real photos) of such a plane. I imagine if you had access to a nice museum bird, you could do some really nice ones. But, getting into a plane that is half way around the world, getting the right lighting, (outside, in the sun) and getting the right angles, etc, and high resolution, not blurry, was pretty dang difficult.

Its not easy making these things. And making one that everyone likes is also not always possible.

:icon_lol: I remember when the Real Air Duke came out some people were complaining it was too "clean" and needed some more dirt.

Just goes to show that you can't please all the people all the time.

On the other hand it's a lot easier to add dirt to a texture than it is to remove it. But paintkits with a separate dirt layer are best.
