AN-32 WIP's

Second paint job...
I'll start the VC when I get my POH. Well it's really for an An-26, but it's as close as I could get.

Wonderful choice of airframe again:applause:, I have been waiting for the payware An-12 (one of the most overlooked, great aircraft in the world) for about 2 years now, and it appears to have died:sleep:. I seem to remember that several ex-soviet countries used these as part of the 'Open Skies' treaty in the 1990's, that should make for some nice odd re-paints.

I know it is a lot to ask, but when you do the VC can it be with either metric and/or imperial gauges? Try as I might, I still have trouble flying fully metric aircraft and have to resort to looking at the script brought up by Shift+Z:icon_lol:

look at the size of those turbine nacelles...what is the output from those beasties?

one herculean twin from the look of her - looking forward to it Tim :ernae:

:applause:

I can imagine the sound that thing will put out!

When i worked for the Swedish Post we sometimes inlisted the help of some different riff-raff air freigt companies when our own aircraft ran out of capacity.

One of these companies flew with a smaller type ex-military Antonov but that thing was overmotorised just like this one.
With The Fokker 50 that we normaly used, when we were finished loading and the pilots started the engines, as long i was in my truck during upstart and taxi there was no problem. (i'm a truckdriver)
But with the Antonov i had to be in the truck, at a safe distance AND be wearing earprotection or that thing would rip the ears right of my head!:isadizzy:

The nacelles are big due to the engines being above the wing, and the gear wells below the wing. The engines put out about 5000 SHP each.
There is also an APU in the right nacelle end.
The AN-32 is basically an AN-26 for hot-and-high operations, mainly to fill an Indian Airforce requirement.

I'd have to dig through some photos, but I think the Afghanis are using the AN-32. I know I saw them in-country, just don't remember if they were military or civilian.

They are indeed.

I'd love for the Croatian Wings of Storm to appear here in the UK at a show next summer, mainly because they'd probably bring an An-32 support aircraft with them.

Also, I believe the An-32 uses the same engines as the An-12, Be-12, and possibly the Il-18 aswell, as well as a few others.

Added bonus: a nice vid of a Croatian An-32 firing flares at a show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-tF4S73KS0

Grandmaster Piglet, as cool as your new avatar looks the black "background" is a bit disturbning.

So here is a non-black version:

Oh, and yes, I'm also looking forward flying your An-32. And I second the motion for metric gauges!

What on earth is that airborne aircraft carrier looking thing in the background?
