Nice! My favourite Triumph car (they made motorcycles too of course) after the TR4A. IMHO the TR7 and Triumph Spitfire were garbage.

I had a Triumph 2000 4 door sedan (I think they called it a salon there). Ran strong as heck. Problem was the rest of the car falling down around the engine. Traded a perfectly good New Anglia for it. Should have kept the Ford.

LOL...I once owned a Triumph 2000 TC (the twin carb version) for a few months. It has to be one of the worst cars I have ever owned. The carbs were always going out of sync, the steering rack was so sloppy there was about 1/8 of a turn on the steering wheel before anything happened, the gear shift linkage would constantly rattle regardless of how many times I replaced all the silly nylon washers in the linkage and it had a water leak around the windshield that I never found despite repeated attempts to fix the problem. It was basically a piece of junk on wheels! I only bought it because our previous car had been written off when someone rear-ended it at a roundabout and my first wife needed a car to get to work (I used to ride my motorcycle to work in those days). It was the happiest day of my life when I sold it on to some mug and bought a much better car.

A TR6 ........ one of the worst vehicles to wear the Triumph badge!
The fuel injection was horrible, it idled anywhere between 800RPM and 2500RPM, the rear end tucked under during moderately vigorous cornering and the general crappy package was only surpassed by dreadful Triumph Stag.


Agreed, the Spitfire and the TR7 were rubbish.

Have to agree with stated opinions about the TR7. I had a 1976 model. Pure junk!

...I always thought the TR-3 was the best looking of the lot.....had those nice rounded Brit looks to it.

You got that right! I don't think British Leyland ever built a good car! Even cars that were reasonable before the take-over went downhill fast once BL got their hands on them.

After my Triumph 2000 TC episode I said enough is enough and only bought French cars after that and loved every one of them.

My brother owned a TR4A, which although spawnd the TR6, was a much nicer looking car with lots more chrome and no 1970's plastic, i had a Dolomite 1500HL, baby brother of the 2000, and dispite the s**t steering and brakes, was one of the nicest cars i ever ownd.
Just a point, Triumph car company had no relation with Triumph motorbikes, they where two seperate unrelated companys, The car company was a sub division of Standard cars from the 1930's, but the bike company had been around from the 1920's maybe earlier.
