• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Beautiful bird, the Connie! (and a Curtis C-46 Commando would see good service in Rising Sun for missions flying over the Hump in CBI theatre) That is something different, Clive!

Perhaps we can do this with more aircrafts ( warbirds ) from FS9 ??

Yep, it's possible. This is the method :)

There is a list of freeware Alphasim models here: http://www.virtavia.com/Freeware/ they all have open copyrights so can be used in cfs3, after conversion. Other models could be used with permissions.

The .mdl can be loaded (not all .mdls will load) with ModelconverterX: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14215 and then exported to .3ds and thus into gmax.

Sometimes the .3ds won't import into gmax so I open it in Gooogle Skethup and save it again.

The textures usually need converting to jpg or bmp and then once the model's in gmax the textures need re-applying (the mapping remains 95% intact usually).

Then its a laborious job of renaming all the parts, seperating some (eg. you get wings attached to pilots heads!) and re-animating the moving components.

Not an easy job by any means but for those like myself with limited gmax skills it's a quicker route to get new models into cfs3!

Ripper Clive! Theres AEW/EW spook versions, might berelevant to dpc/Korea? Maybe Maritime toi?? Maybe. USN too??
