• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

And to continue the WW2 airfieldfest...

Didn't quite escape.
...my FTP package just informed me that RAF Winkleigh has finally finished uploading, so if anyone wants the place, versions 1.0 of both that and 161 (Special Duties) homebase of RAF Tempsford are now available.

No pics again, sorry - I need to drag Nick away from ADE for long enough to take me some half decent ones as mine are worse than my gmax modelling skills (actually? Not sure that's possible... I'll let you lot decide) but the airfields are available.

RAF Tempsford:
(Requires Ted Andrews libraries)

RAF Tempsford lies in the East Midlands, near East Anglia and was technically a Bomber Command station, although it was vastly more famous as home of most of the RAF's Special Duties aircraft. Gibraltar Farm is, unfortunately, not present in this release because I need to make it and haven't done so yet.

RAF Winkleigh:
(Requires IJP (included), Bill Womack (included) and Ted Andrews libraries - but looks fine without the Ted Andrews ones)

Talk about unloved - RAF Winkleigh, nestled between Dartmoor and Exmoor in Devon, was built for Coastal Command in 1942, who didn't want it, given to Fighter Command, who by then didn't need it, so they loaned it to the USAAF as a Photo Reconnaissance base.

When the US forces build up started in 1944, however, Winkleigh finally got home stationed aircraft as a Night Fighter station for Canadian and British Squadrons, plus a detachment from Tempsford's 161 Squadron who flew agent support and drop missions from the station into occupied France using Lysander aircraft.

Great stuff Ian! Thanks!!!
