Coming up on May 20 will be a "ring of fire" or annular eclipse of the sun. Pretty much all of the western US will be able to see at least a partial eclipse. More info and links to maps of the path of totality can be found at

These events are pretty rare, and it's pretty cool that many National Parks are in the path, including Redwood National Park, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Grand Canyon, and Chaco Canyon. You can also find a map put out by the National Park Service at

Just click on the "Where to View" link and a really good map pops up with times and estimates of the degree of totality.
Just remember...NEVER look at the sun unprotected. There is also a "How to View" link on the same page that gives you lots of options.
