Another carrier on the horizon

Looks stunning, the current is mighty fine and a good challenge.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

No thanks to me please, it all goes to Sylvain :), the only down side to previews of others work is that it 'can' put pressure on the developer, I do have to say that I was so impressed with this model that I kinda bullied Sylvain to show a shot here LOL. The new bridge structure is very well modeled and the 3D crew figures are very nice, and the best part ?, zero FPS hit on my system.

Kindest

Michael

Thanks for sharing Michael, another fine model on it's way to FSX.

Sparouty,

Great looking piece of work.

One comment though ... Your first picture (upper left) in post number 12, the carrier without some form of water line action makes your carrier appear to be sitting above the water rather than in the water ... Any chance you can incorporate an active waterline?

:)

Good point, I had terrible trouble getting that part to look right and ended up moving the wake to just in front of the model mid point so that it starts to come out the sides about midway down the hull.

Strangely when I reloaded FSx after my 'self inflicted' crash my wakes no longer worked ?, so I had to alais to another, the wider wake also gives a better impression of speed to me. I didnt add the wake as an efffect in Max, it just seems to appear from the model ref point automatically, which is handy, as we all know about the 60m cat bubble this means that the ref point on the Essex actually needs to be moved fwd about 15m and thus by default gives a nice location for the wake. I added a black boot topping to my carriers but then when you have the water set to high reflection it still seems to float over the water, even adding dummy hull plates below the sim water line doesnt give it a 'placed' in the water look.

A little OT my previous installation of FSx had no coast waves, imagine my suprise and delight when they magically re-apppeared in the new installation, loss of my original carrier wake but coast waves....small price to pay in my books :).

Best

Michael

I love the current version I'm flying off of now and can't wait for what you have in store. I loved it so much I modded the textures to make the Foch to keep the Clem company.

Simkid22, please where did you get the Marine nationale Hawk? I confess I was hoping a bit for faux-Hawk repaints for Dino Cattaneo's Goshawk. The BAe variant has a lot of operators and doesn't look all that different from the Boeing variety...

The Clemenceau is gorgeous. There is a Mistral BPC and PAN CDG out there too.

Cheers,
MT
