Attack at Dawn

Nice shot at dawn!

Here's one of mine depicting the first misson of the day at the Battle of Midway. Here the squadron is heading to "Point Affirm" east of Midway to form up before heading west against the carriers of the Kidu Butai.

Major Lofton Henderson led the unit, VMSB 241, and was killed in action during the strike. Henderson airfield, AKA "Cactus," was named in his honor during the Guadalcanal campaign. The unit flew a mix of early Dauntless and Vindicator bombers.
