Another project in the shop

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
As usual, I have project upon project underway...and the latest plane to roll into OBIO's Aircraft Shop is none other than Wolfi's Boeing P-26 Peashooter. I have the repaint template nearly done...just a few small areas of details to add, have the first new skin about 90% done, have created a dedicated Pratt and Whitney R-1340 sound pack (took the FS2004 stock Lockheed Vega sound pack through the wav editors and tweaked it to meet my discriminating audio standards), then took a copy of that sound pack and put together a dedicated P-26 sound pack to reflect the open cockpit of the plane...louder internal engine sounds, louder wind sounds, louder landing sounds. Have also run the MDL through MDLmaterial and given it just the right amount of shine.

Have no idea when I will have this project ready to upload, have a number of other paints to do, a couple tweaks to the sound pack. BUt here are a few teaser shots of the not yet completed first new skin. 94th Pursuit Squadron, Selfridge Field, Michigan, 1935 and 1936. Still needs the tail number, the fairing trim, the squadron insignia placed on the sides and the triangle doohickies on the cowl need reworked.

Looking good Obio. I still fly Wolfi's Peashooter quite often and look forward to your release.

After doing this post and cleaning the 30 gallon aquarium, I did a bit of work on the Peashooter. Have the last of the rivet details in place, the 94th PS insignias on...though they are a bit too large and need to be soaked in some hot water to shrink them just a tad. Did some work to the sound pack.

I thought that instead of waiting until I had X number of skins done and uploading them all as a pack, I will upload each skin as I get it done. That way you all can get some new cloths for the Peashooter quicker. Will get this skin done in the next day or so and get it uploaded. Will do final testing to the Pratt and Whitney R-1340 and Peashooter sound packs and get them uploaded too.

Peeshooters

Obio,

That's one of my favorite CFS 2 birds and the updates will be a nice addition. She's great fun in missions against the A5M and other early war Japanese aircraft.

There are two color variations on the 94th PS paint. One obviously being the OD and Yellow with Red and Yellow "flames". The other had the OD replaced with blue and the yellow edging on the "flames" replaced with white. I will most likely do both versions as they are both strikingly beautiful.

I have a Chinese Air Force skin well under way. The main textures are done, just need to create the damage textures and it will be ready to upload. You will soon be able to go head to head with Claudes and Nells in a true CAF air plane.

Have the sound pack tweaked to as close to perfection as I can get it.

I gotta have the flames. Time to break out the peashooter campaign. Just make sure you get as much altitude as possible before attacking!

As I was working on the Chinese skin for the P-26, I figured that some worthy opponents were needed. So, I began working on Wolfi's G3M Nell, Thicko's Nakajima Type 91 and am looking for the best A5M Claude out there (need some help with that one....not sure who had done the Claude for CFS2).

Dirtman, et al (et al being Latin for "and others")

Take a trip through the Japanese plane library here on Combatfs....there is a very nice A5M4 package...can't remember who uploaded it or who it is by, but has the A5M4-A and A5M4-D variants. The A5M4-A has nearly a dozen skins, the D has maybe half a dozen. Pretty sharp modeling, nice VC.

I will be working on a sound pack to use with the Claude and Nakajima Type 91...both used the same engine.

I have Wolfi's Nate but have not installed it yet.....I have this nasty habit of installing aircraft then instantly wanting to tweak, repaint, repanel, etc. I am once again looking at a pile of projects in various stages of completion and just don't want to add another to the pile at this time.

Jagdflieger,
I may have asked you this before but I like that half-finished green paint job on the B5N2 Kate in your screen shot with the PAF P-26 and A5M. Do you still have that texture stashed away somewhere?

Tarps,

Sorry to take so long in getting back to you. My browsing time is a bit abreviated right now.

That skin is for Thicko's neat B5N2 Type 97 Kate. There is no readme file in the folder for the skin, but I think that it it might be by Talos, one of our MIA Faithful. His technique was to upload textures directly to the thread and not to the library so it may or not be there. There are prop textures by Kelti in the pack so perhaps it is in storage here.
