This ship model is a german Vorpostenboot, called a 'Flakship' by the Allies.

The Vorpostenboot is basicly a converted fishing trawler, built for escort duties for inbound, and outbound, ships, U-boots, etc. from ports to open waters.
They were heavily armed, to be used against both for enemy a/c and ships. From fore to aft, the weapons were...1 88mm L/45, 5 20mm Flak guns at different locations, 1 20mm Flakvierling38, and aft was 1 37mm Flak gun.

I'm building this thing to be included with Keroman, but once it's finished, I'll release it on it's own. Have to paint it, make the LODs, and the damage model. Once I have the texture made, all that won't take too long.
 
btw...the 88mm at the bow was used against other ships, not against a/c.
So, you shouldn't have to worry about that one...unless your in a ship!

God Bless you Crossram, that's perfect, just what's is been missing in the many Coastal Command anti-ship missions that I've been writing. They were well respected as escorts by Coastal Command and the MTB/MGB's of Coastal Forces. I'm glad someone is making new ships. good on ya!:applause:
 
oh cool cr.is it a driveable aircraft? are you going to build shooting ships for other nations? i've just been converting the is4g ship,with actual rounds of different cals. i was hopeing philip m was going to do upgrades on his ship.as beau stated we are lacking in this area,includeing pto.

being part of the anti-flak ship section during an anti-ship strike will be a quite dangerous job I gess :d

Hope it will all work as it should. Should be a little hair-raising to tangle with it.

Nope...no drivable. 'Shooting ships'? Heh. As far as I know, if the xdp is written right, the model has all the parts and pieces, LOL, and the user HAS all the guns, bullets, and shells...yeah, they 'should' shoot.

One thing I've noticed in a few of my installed ships, they call for some guns I've never seen, so of course I don't have 'em. But, no biggie. I can change that...or make my own.

One other note on the 88mml45_gun (at the bow), in the xdp, it has in the TargetCatagory entry only vehicles. That needs to be changed to add in ships...ships,vehicles...

That note will be added with the ship.

I think it was in Closterman's book that I read about an attack by Typhoons or Tempests on one of those ships. Really wanted to build one at the time and try myself but lacked the proper info. Cool job, Ted!!!

at last something proper for the flakbeau's to shoot at whilst the Torbeau's make their torpedo run on the merchantmen.

That's a nice boat you have there Ted!! I imagine it can throw up a lot of flak too!

This is what I went up against recently, talk about thick,lol From the Tirpitz, other ships protecting her, ground installations, it was coming from everywhere!!!:ernae:

Blue box is the master node.

Already checked it in the sim, and made most adjustments.
Now just a bunch of part copying, and re-naming for LODs and damage. LOL, and finding the time. Won't be all that long.

Doesn't matter if it looks like what I posted Ted, that's a fine model you have there!!:icon29:

BTW, I have a better looking copilot in my B25 then you ever had on the "Brew"!! LOL

Guess I've either forgotten my password to upload, lol, or it's been that long. Anyway, soon as I get the word, the ship will be up.

Finished, including four LODs, damage, and a simple, sample mission.

Just found my password. I get to it.
 
If there's any interest...

I don't know if anybody has already fixed the stock g_u_boat, but out of the box, it's really too easy to kill.

I glanced over it, looking also via the model viewer, and found a slight problem. The stock xdp doesn't have all the gun stations. In the model, there are three, and the visual looks along the lines of a type IX.

So anyway, I've fixed mine. Increased the damage points to where I think it's more accurate. Also added...and corrected...all three gun stations. The type IX usually were equipped with a 105mm Deckgun (used for finishing off ships if they didn't sink fast enough) that's on the fore deck.
On the tower is a 20mm, and the aft deck sports a 37mm Flak gun.
All works great...and yeah, they take more potshots at ya, and takes a bit more to sink it.
