Oh well Peter 'I+d love to see any one of these beautiful aeroplanes appear on the sim. Maybe one day when i've enough time and no bl***y homework I'll settle down and give some of these a crack.
- Yes this was terrfic fun. The owner of G-AHOO leads his plane in fully Tiger-Moth display team "The Tiger Nine" - that perform at airshows across the UK. He was practising at his private airstrip in Wiltshire last April and rung up my farther at 8 in the morning and asked if I wanted a flight. My my dad told me - I pretty much exploded with excitement.
Their typical nine-ship display routine is as follows,
All aircraft take-off in 3 groups of three and form up - holding off for eight minutes approx. First run-in at 3 hundred feet in diamond nine shape. Second pass at 200 feet, then line up opposite corwd line. The formation reaches 90 knots, then does a 9-ship bomb-burst, a really impressive spectacle. The individual aircraft then make independant passes at 100 feet along the crowd-line, often with a wing-wobble. Sometimes, once all aircraft but G-AHOO have landed it commences a solo aerobatic routine, of a stall-turn, loop etc..
I'm glad to say I've been in the front seat whilst doing this. The feelings were incredible.
