That´s what I´d call starwarsy. Pretty impressive piece of technology. Maritime environment was mentioned in the article and can of course be seen on the video. Is it a much more difficult environment in terms of atmospheric conditions compared to land for example? Doesn´t a laser weapon need some kind of calibration beam in order to lock on targets due to heterogeneous layers of air?
