In the PTO the Japanese planes had a habit of exploding at times because they had no self sealing fuel tanks.I did a modification to see if I could get it to work oon some planes. Here's one result.

This does not happen all the time,it depends where you hit the plane.

Wow, that is great. Yes that is totally true, they did not have self sealing tanks and were prone to blow up.

that is a great bit of accurate history to add, I think it is a wonderful addition.:wiggle:

wow talon you have been out to sea a long time.newbees go to the archive library under missions and campains.get the "Divine wind and kamakize mission pack, under my name i built a standalone zero that does just that. here are two old pics from the project.it also contains easy sink us and jap carriers.a converted corrado shooting ship that uses a new 40 mm ap long range round. the repaired kate to mount on a carrier without blowing up.it carries the model 91 torpedo.also some eva files for us planes, and 11 missions.

:applause:Yes Talon I would like to see this effect, it would add realism and look so...cool! although your attempt at capturing this effect is looking awsome, I've seen some of the actual gun cam footage, it seems to me that maybe a bit more bright yellow flash/flare-up as the tanks erupt, and ignite could be added? I'm guessing a sound effect would also be part of it? Good Idea, thaks for your inspiring contributions.

The no self sealing fuel tanks on ALL JP planes is a myth in fact the KI-61 and other modern JP aircraft had fire suppression and self sealing tanks. Most of the early JP planes did not have self-sealing tanks but the Japanese, like everyone else, learned from their mistakes.

Yes i was refering to the early models as I imagine Talon was too. R and D takes time esp in a war.
