Any one for a Quickie...2?

LHC is working on the Rutan Quickie Q2 and I'm lucky enough to have a beta of this fantastic looking design. All scenery is ORBX.

I gotta say....Burt Rutan's stuff has got to be the most un-aerodynamic aircraft in appearance despite their excellent performance. You look at these things and wonder how on earth can they even fly.

I actually think just the opposite. His aircraft always appeared to be based on the epitome of aerodynamics. They are extremely futuristic to be sure, but I never had the idea, by looking at them, that they'd never fly.

Roger, great shots as always. I've been following his development on Facebook and it's amazing how quickly he's been able to put this one together. As always, it's a work of art inside and out. Should be a lot of fun to fly. I have Roberts "Quickie" and still enjoy flying it in certain environments, so this one should be a kick to fly.

Rutan is one of the real aviation geniuses. I really put him up there with the original Mr. Boeings, Northrups, Lochhead brothers, etc.

Yep. The VariEze/LongEze have got to be some of the coolest looking of his homebuilts. If I recall correct he was also involved in the Beech Starship.

Oh I'll pick this one up at release for sure. I've spent a lot of time in the freeware Quickie, and it'll be great to have a Q2 in my stable.

It's a common misconception that the Q2 is a Rutan design. It isn't, however it does of course retain a very similar wing layout to the quickie, which of course was a Rutan design, being Model 54.

I'm quite a fan of the Rutan designs, and I wish more of them were represented in our sims!

As unrealistic as it would be, it's be great to have one with a space for a GTN 750, or at least a flat space where we could put our own gauges (one big enough for the GTN 750!). Bill, if you're reading this, please please please!!!

Also, if Bill is reading this, I'd love to beta test.

She's pretty close to launch and just an issue with RPM gauge which may be my system but I believe it will be for sale shortly.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while. I'm glad to see it's close to release. Thanks for the preview pics. :)

That's very true. Their hangar was next door to RAF (Rutan Aircraft Factory) in Mojave. I went there when the Q200 first came out, intending to buy the kit and build one, but I went to Burt's place too and the Long EZ just hooked me.

Thanks for doing this one, Bill, and Roger too for the pics.

Cheers,
Steve :wavey:

That one is a modern biplane. Heck, it is even a taildragger! Talk about old and new combined!

So that's your Long-Eze I've been flying in FSX! Your paint scheme that is, as it's one of my favorites. Now I'll be able to add the Q2 to my FS Rutan Collection of the Long-Eze, Quickie, Boomerang, and the VariViggenite.

Really, this is the best thing I've read about all day. I just took a flight in the Q1 to calm my nerves after some practice in the F-14. Looking forward to this!

Bring it ON!

I still enjoy flying the Long-EZ quite a bit. (Alpha Sim I think it was.) In fact, I was looking at the Long-EZ ads on Barnstormers yesterday! Also fly the RealAir Sim Lancair a lot. Another spectacular experimental. A Quickie 2 would be great...bring it on!

The Pond Racer is available as well, albeit a bit outdated in appearance.

I forgot about that one. I haven't flown it in awhile due to FDE problems with it. I've been meaning to rework it but haven't got around to it yet. I may have to get back to it because it is such a cool airplane.
