Anyone heard of or tried this

Yesterday in a local charity shop I picked up a copy of Fighter Squadron Screaming Demons.

Having installed it I searched the internet and came across files to convert it to WW1.

Due to the age of the host sim it looks a little crude, no real campaign and the flight model seems to me a bit suspect but fun all the same.

Something different whilst we wait for P3.

Due out in two weeks is'nt it?:costumes:

Do you have installed Plane Pack 4 and the Terrain mod? Check out the Fighter Squadron W.W.I section on Wings Of Honor as well as the official forum. Also the development team is constantly improving the sim and Plane Pack 5 is currently in development as well as further terrain mods.

I tried it and didn't care for it.

I look at it that way: given the age of the game engine (older than CFS 3) it is amazing what the dev team has achieved. They are facing a similar situation as the OFF development team but with a much more outdated game engine.

It was a pity no one grabbed hold of Flying Corps gold and did a makeover on that sim.
It was brilliant for its time and gave me many hours of fun.
The mission builder was still the best.

But, being objective about things, OFF is light years ahead of any of the old sims- in fact it is ahead of nearly every sim. Except Falcon 4. Wish I had the brains, dedication and single mindedness to use that sim's full potential.

Yep. I have had many hours of fun with FS-SDOE -WW1. It has the biggest collection of flyable WW1 aircraft bar none. Runs very nicely on older machines and has some very clever touches, like animated pilots who can 'curse' the enemy . Nice DM & FM for its era.

Whilst you are killing time for P3 and fancy some on-line action why not also try Targetware's 'Richthofen's Skies' (quick - the server is going to be taken off-line soon! Boo-hoo!). While lacking any AI or campaign content the online action is superb. The FMs are also amongst the best out there IMHO.

That's true. 52 flyable planes (in the upcoming plane pack 5) is something no other W.W.I flight sim has.

I remember flying this online a few times,great fun but didn't last long(switched over to boy's of 60)
I believe one of the main fellows behind screaming was a guy going by the name ArgonV.
