Anyone port over the Tu-142 to FSX?

Where can one who uses FSX pounce on a TU114 and 142 converted for FSX??

http://samdimdesign.free.fr/index.html

That's where you'll get the Tu's .... they're 2004 but are better than 'many' 2004 crates.
The default props [as Tommieboy has indicated] are pretty typical disasters for FSX but mods are available.
Setting smoke, etc for them was time consuming. ..[8 exhausts]...seems several have got into those too.
The 114 alphas can give you shine [metal] though the prop boss ends up transparent...so that's a no go.

I haven't spent as much time on the 95-142 as there's more to do with the gauges....finding 'nice' ones...;)

Great repaint! :salute: A polished metal American Airlines job with the orange-red lightning bolt down the side would look neat. :icon_lol:

I'm currently messing with blank polished metal finishes for the 114, 95, 126, and 142 .... so eventually an AA version might be do-able....;)

Here's a 'blank' [ish] 114 that can turn into an AA one....;)

Edit...
Early days yet....VERY early. The fuse is a pain in the bum to paint as the segments are not all the same scale...so alignment is trial and error ....this is the first go....close, but no cigar....;)

The nose is next...before tackling the engines......
The Fuse is in 4 'pieces' length-wise on 2 bitmaps....8 images to look at piecing together....

....slowly getting the hang of it...

Update....

....lot of trial and error in the nose ....now not looking forward to the engines....;p
At a crossroad.....am hoping this is the 'right direction'...following examples of AA Electras as 'close enough' to what might be...

Ignoring alphas, etc .... the orange bits are ok...just not so sure about the expanse of white wing ....metal edge and flaps, though....as with Electras.

In regards to the expanse of the white wing;

First, I'd try realigning the leading edge of the white area that occurs toward the outer portion of the wing and pull it back to align better with the portion that occur from the engines in toward the fuselage; more of a straight line. That should help reduce the expanse somewhat, and show more of the metal leading edge in that area.

Second, if you need to reduce the expanse even more, I'd then pull the trailing edge of the white expanse more forward to further reduce the expanse. It should be OK to have a gap between the white area and the orange operable surfaces. But I'm thinking you won't have to do any of this in any case.

Yes...that leading edge was me following a panel line in the existing skin....it was cranked like that and the way the bimap is laid out you don't see how screwy it may be till you load it. I'll look more into where legit seams are in a real wing on a 114 and follow whatever that makes it...;)

Edit....here it is after a bit of looking....

Trimmed it back a 'tad' ...was less of a drama with the alpha also done....it all makes the 114 so much bigger than an Electra [which I guess they really were]..;)
Now those pesky engines...;)

I think 'pesky' was too kind.

In future I'll stick to unpainted engine cowlings....;p

There's a bit more detail to add ....painting the nav glass frames black seems to work...;)
Unless there's typically an atc id number under the wings or something I think it's finished....;)

Stuck the Qantas one there too....it's what was 'worked' from to get the AA .....not much alike anymore...;)

Tommy....am still finding 'bits' to tidy up on the AA ....then I'll dump the 888 bitmaps back to DX5 before I up them...;)

Stuff like the ID number on the nose bay doors ....just noticed it's still the one from the Qantas.

The name 'Flagship Los Angeles' and number N6126A come from an Electra from AA ...;)

Meanwhile...back at the ranch....another in early stages....

Here's that one done.....even those engines....still no idea which bit is the cowl-front chrome bit....yet....but it's the way I wanted it, anyway...;)

BOAC - Comet-style...;)

Got all my ducks in a row and uploaded these three here...

DUDE!

These paint schemes are just too cool....

I just loaded up the Qantas paint scheme in FSX.....WOW! These paint schemes should breeze new life into this model for the FSX users, especially with the period paint schemes that you have chosen.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Just one note on the downloads.....

Using the Qantas repaint as an example, when you extract the zip file you'll see the folder named texture.qantas......don't copy this folder over to the the Tupolev Tu-114 folder as I did to jump the gun, as there is a second folder within that folder (also named texture.qantas); that is the one that you want to copy over to the Tupolev Tu-114 folder. That second folder also has the readme first.txt file.

Glad you're liking them...but re the zips...I didn't think I'd double archived them...did them the same as the Avenger...and looked OK to me...should be a texture.qantas.zip containing an image a readme and the texture.qantas folder....and that has an extra readme in it [so it's not lost in extraction/use]...;)

I think the next one might be a PAN AM ...;)
Edit....yep...PANAM it is...from a 707 vintage....little bit more to do yet...;)
