Apollosmith's SW Pacific Adventure

Landed at WAJJ to complete Leg #13. I think I'll try to sneak in one more tonight.

Baton time: 00:37:53
Total time: 6:31:35

Down at WABB to complete Leg #14. I'm saving the final, long leg for another day.

Baton time: 00:49:12
Total time: 7:20:47

Landed at RPMD. I kept doing wind angle adjustments, but was starting to wonder if I'd missed the mark by a LONG ways. Thick clouds making it hard to spot land didn't help. It was sweet music when the IDENT started beeping and the NDB arrow pointed almost straight ahead. LAND HO!

Baton time: 2:14:21

Total Distance Flown: 3038.8nm
Average speed: 318.4nm/hour
Total Baton Time: 9:35:08
Total Flight Time: 9:32:39

Well, it's been a fun run. I think I eked out about every ounce of speed I could from the old P-38. It's got nothing on Wombat's hot P-51, but it was a pleasure to fly. Thanks for putting this event together!

Nice run Jared. I thought I had the shortest course until I saw everyone coming from the other direction, but I also thought I'd have more tail winds too, which I didn't.

Great run Jared. Gotta think that the P-38 is just right.

An Escort of P-38's
Tech. Sgt. Robert H. Bryson

Oh, Hedy Lamarr is a beautiful gal,
And Madeleine Carroll is, too.
But you'll find if you'll query, a different theory
Among the men of a bomber crew.
For the loveliest thing of which one could sing
(This side of the Heavenly Gates)
Is no blonde or brunette of the Hollywood set -
But an escort of P-38s.
