16 B-25 bombers took off from the USS Hornet and headed to Japan,the mission to bomb Japan industries.Not much damage was done but it was a morale boost for the US.What this proved to the Japanese was that they could be attacked.This set into motion the final plans to attack Midway.
A Salute to these brave men who understood this might be a one way mission but went anyway.
Japan also made laws after this raid that allied airmen would be executed if captured.
