• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Are the old servers dead and gone?

I guess its time to ask. Is anyone still Trying to reserect the old forum threads or has ickie posted a do not Resesitate sign on the old Server hard drives?

As the back-ups went corrupt as well, there is no conventional way to recover the posts and threads. So the chances that the old posts and threads can be recovered are almost zero.

However there is a very small chance that there might be an dedicated back-up on another location, for instance done for one of of the upgrades. There are still people who are looking for these.

In 2005 we had a similar situation, when we had to change servers. We had to abandon all old data as well and started from scratch.
We are still here and most knowledge is still between our ears ;).
What we did in 2005 can be done again!

There are also many cached posts on google. When you search for something and you find a post with a SOH url, click on the "cached" pages button and you can still find some of the stuff that has been lost.
