Could anyone point me to where I could find reduced textures/ packages for the trees, water and clouds, etc, in my FSX SP2 with Accleration without the texture quality being affected? To improve FSX performane of course, on my WinXP P4 3.6 PC with 2gb RAM. Just in the meantime until I put together a new PC for running FSX. I just recently installed FSX, performance was slow, but after installing Accleration SP2 it improved lots. But I'd like to see if I can improve further with reduced textures if possible.

Search for these file on Avsim or flightsim.com:

resautogentexfsx.zip
resvegetationtexfsx.zip

There is also a tweek listed in the FSX tweeks section that shos you how to reduce the density of trees and buildings in your cfg file so that you can crank your sliders up. I know this sounds like they counter each other, but it give more autogen. I have a 2.4Ghz amd and run with autogen set at max with reduced textures and the following in my cfg file:

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=2000
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1000
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=80
MESH_RESOLUTION=22
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=25
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
WATER_EFFECTS=5

I have also reduced the clouds with little visual quality loss, but it was long ago and I can't remember what the file was. Do a search for clouds.

I haven't touched my water, run it at 2x mid.

Hope that helps mate
