Today I went to start my good olde trusty CFS2 PTO by clicking on the desktop. :jump:Screen starts ( loading screen comes on) then :pop4:just nothing , disk spins then stops... it completely stops loading! This happens with ALL three theaters, PTO Korea, ETO.
I even went into Windows explorer and started from the cfs2.exe Icon and same thing. Does anyone know who how the game intializes after the load screen?
I tried compying a new exe into the game and same thing .. zip...nada...zilch!
I did no new additions to the game, but I did upgrade my zone alarm. I tried closing that, restarting the computer , and still the same problem. Any ideas beyond a new (gasp) install appreciated.

Check the main CFS2 directory for a file called "error.log", right click on it and open with...notepad and read what it says.

Hmmm, little rusty so bear with me. I think after the load screen it wants to play the movie, so try this. Open your "CFS2.cfg file with notepad, go to the [MAIN] section and set ShowLogo=0 and ShowMovie=0 (I don't remember what Showlogo even did, sorry) and then try it.

BOATZ;
Tried with no joy. I was set for 0 on both but reverted to 1 as a test and still no joy. Have reset BACk to 0 on both.
Does anyone know if the game does a "call-home" to MS whenever the game is started?

Fibber,

It might have several years ago, but MS hasn't supported CFS 2 for sometime, so I doubt they are much interested in who's using it anymore.

Wish I could help, but I've not ever seen this problem before.

Since this problem affects all of your CFS2 installs and if you're still using the CD gaming approach, it could be a fault with your CD drive. When was the last time you cleaned your drive with a CD cleaner disc? Does the CD drive run other disks with no problems?

My only suggestion for you to do is to restart you PC from a previous setting date when everything was working right or reinstall your Window. If its XP it will be a bit harder as there are very few places where they still sell it. I warn you it will erase everything you have install in your hard drive unless you have most of your most important installs on a external driver. Its like starting all over again but its darn worth it in my opinion!

Just make sure you have a external Hardrive as your backup.

Just in case try installing it in another PC and see if it works. It it does then its you PC hardrive. If its does not its the game CD that is not funtioning properly. Then you need to buy a new CFS2 CD. They are not that expensive nowdays.
