Argus-like meat substitute...

It's like those "hamburgers" you got in elementary school....not really meat, but they did fill you up.
 
There is one on static display at the old Summerside Base enterance, I will garb a few shot next time I am over there. There is also a cockpit being restored at the Musem at the Stanfield International Airport in Jalifax, alot of work to do yet but it looks interesting.

It looks very much like the Orion and I would love to see one in FSX a real nice plane, we used to see them flying out of Summerside, Sherwater and Greenwood regularly when I was a kid.
 
I'm guessing that's a Bristol Britannia painted as a Canadair Argus.

According to my Google Spreadsheet Jens Kristensen made one for FSX so there must be an Argus repaint for it somewhere (although a quick search at AVSIM and FS.com did not reveal it).

The fuselage and engines are wrong (along with a multitude of small parts) but it's the closest thing we have at the moment.

Both the Argus and Yukon were developed from the Britannia.

Might be worth checking in with Garry Russell, to see if he has the Argus planned as part of his series of Britannia derivatives?

If he does it will probably be for FS2004 only as Garry doesn't model for the 'dark side'! :crybaby:

Yes, Garry is a confirmed luddite, much like myself - one of the true brethren.

I believe that the plan is to have FSX-friendly versions of the models; unlikely to have VCs (Garry doesn't 'do' virtual cockpits), but it will be optimised to run in FSX. Reading the feedback at Britsim about the CL44 beta, they have found a few minor issues using the FS9 version in FSX, which I'm sure will be addressed. Worth the ask anyway.

BTW as per conversations elsewhere, this will be my final post here.
 
As you will see from the FsX native freeware list, Jens Britannia is FsX native, which I'd guess is the model Lazarus painted

His beta is excellent. I have it in FSX and Lockheed's Prepar3D and enjoy her thoroughly.
 
Yah, its Jens FSX Britannia. For FS9ers, keep an eye on this site. No idea about release dates, if ever, V/C, donation/pay/freeware. Its been going for a while, but may never see daylight. I'll post the Britannia repaint when done. Better that 'nuthin View attachment 51443
 
I certainly hope this Argus gets released on almost any terms. I still have, somewhere on my system, the Argus which was being developed by Indigo Simulations (I think that was their name) It was quite promising with DC6/7 bits added in. Perhaps its the hunting instinct as sub chasers appeal to me, bring on the Argus and a Mercator.
 
Those are nice, but no VC, some of the port over things, not many though. Sigh. Jens is basic, but its native, and I don't have to fight through a long, arduous start-up. An Il-38 comes to mind that I've never got started, or NDs CH-53E. But thats me. I get enough of that stuff at work. The option of choosing a quick start or systems heavy is a teriffic thing. Ivans MiG-21's would not get flown if I had to go through russian immersion and 120hrs of ground school to get 'em going, for instance.
Now a really uber-real add-on would have 960 hours of paperwork, a $9000 fuel bill, a check ride and a transport auditor peering over your shoulder...just to make it 'as real as it gets'....

I don't have enough info on the Argus so it has not progressed any further than roughing out

The CL-44 is very very different to a Britannia, more than people realise and very little is common between the two types

The main gear bays and main undercarriage, ailerons and flaps are the only parts on my models that are not either modified or moved, in most cases both.

The only thing common in the Argus with the Britannia is the ailerons and flaps although it does share the same wing as the CL-44.

In real life the CL-44 used the Argus wings and tail surfaces

Re the startup

You don't have to go through a long and tedious procedure, just use the rapid start function.
