Arkansas birds fall from the sky

Winter Wheat .................

Black bird flocks..........

Hail Storm...............

Yup, a couple of large fireworks could take that lot out in one go! :pop4:

The birds all fell on populated areas, on people's roofs and lawns and in the streets where there were no reports of any hail or any other damage. Unless it was a high altitude, overnight hailstorm but red-shouldered blackbirds do not fly at high altitudes and do not fly at night.

KC-135 refueling B-2's

What kinda of damage would a .........

KC-135 or new Hercules refueling a couple of B-2's do?

To...

Red Wing Black birds .........who took off a night

189th refueling group.....coming out of Little Rock AFB ...........10 to 15 miles southwest

Would they be circling around Beebe......no probably not ???

Did someone say sonic boom??? Some flight of fighters.........breaking sound barrier wouldn't do that

Would it be classified..............maybe a refuel of something else classified?

They had to wait for storm to pass..........emergency due to tornado's

I think the damage woud be a more castastrophic birds strike??

I think the refueling would be too high and away from populated areas?

Final note:

the Inter-State Highway, the State Highway, and the Railroad ...all run along the same southwest to northeast pattern. Alot of traffic of all sorts along that corridor??? Still....I ruled out.... possible for a prank

and....

Bell Slough State Wildlife Managment Area..............2,000 acre reserve for wildlife...I ruled out....mass culling by agriculture or local redwing blackbird hit by crop circle types flinging carcasses about.

The last wild idea I heard bantered on the net.........a attempt to bring down a Military aircraft by Sonic or EMF weapons by some group driving down the interstate .........Instead brought down birds?
Using the fireworks as a cover.

Municipal Airports......surrounding Cities

There are also two municipal airports within 10 to 15 miles northeast of BeeBe

Searcy, Arkansas

and

Bald Knob, Arkansas

I bet there is a Super Twin Otter at one or the other and a Skydiving school?

How many Redwing Blackbirds can a Super Twin carry???

Crazy Skydivers............dropping dead birds over Beebe on New Years Eve???

Thats a good way to get your skydiver license, pilots license, and drivers license taken away...

I bet that violates a few FAA rules and regs...........

No..........just a wild last guess......and too much time on my hands

Bandits at it again......

Those lovable two misfits..............

Are tearing up the Road from Texarkana to Atlanta...........in

Smokey and the Bandit 2011....Black Bird Drop

( I thought that stretch of interstate looked familiar)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnRwQjTYfGI

12 gauge.....rubberized pellet .....Wildlife Mangement Load

911 calls.......

Someone driving around shooting shotguns..........

Maybe .......12 gauge rubberized "Wildlife Management Load"

I thought about rubberized shotgun load..............Blunt Trauma .....without penetration

Cant miss in a large flock.........during fireworks........cover the prank..........

Still......I ruled out due to expense......and amount of shooting to do

5 birds for every pull of the trigger..........

4000 to 1000 total birds/5 bird/pull of trigger= 800 to 200 pull of trigger (total rounds of ammo)

4 trucks of 2 shooters.......... 100 to 33 pulls of trigger per shooter (rounds per shooter)

But.......if you made your own load........what cheap organic blunt projectile would you use?

Reduce gun powder to save cost............to bare minimum......??? still alot of shooting and alot of shells to collect??

Maybe they will find rubber pellets...... or hard corn kernels.......or peanuts....on the ground.....if not.........back to drawing board....

Radar

Radar from Littlerock...........

http://arkansasweather.blogspot.com/2011/01/big-bird-mystery.html

Watch time lapse of plume around Beebe. Plume is mulitple waves of ???. Suspect Birds and Smoke.

It started a around 4:25 GMT (10:25 pm CST) and ended about 6:55 GMT (12:55 am CST). The major storm passed about 4:10 GMT (10:10 pm CST). There were some storm cells over south Beebe at the start of the first plume (about 10:26 pm) that the smoke and birds passed through. Birds reported started dropping around 10:30 to 11:00 pm.

Plume originates from south of Beebe........near Landfill Road??

From the radar images, the First 10:26 plume originates from just south of Beebe near LandFill Road at the White county line/river???. Not sure where the fireworks display was. A landfill is a safe place for a fireworks launching pad.

I am not sure if Landfill road actually has a landfill. The is a river/stream there at the White county line and I am speculating due to the quality of the radar and scale. From the aerial satellite it looks to be a small landfill, or dumping area along Landfill road.

Birds love to feed at landfills or more commonly called "The City Dump". Lots of birds.

The plume (Maybe birds and smoke) spreads south/southeast mostly. But radiates from the source somewhat north west and east.

Note: dbz represents echo return on target or density of objects in air......yellow/green heavy/moderate, then dark blue, then light blue

More Radar snap shots ......

Here are some more radar snap shots of heavy events and the plume spread.

Maybe the birds were repeatedly traumatized. As birds do, the get startled, fly with the lead bird. Circle back around and roost. Startled again, join up with the lead, circle and land..........over three times. Each time birds falling out who have massive coronary heart attacks as they fly over Beebe headed back to the Landfill.

There is also a possibility, they flew out into those passing small storm cell, and circled back after being traumatized with weather, and died over Beebe.

Or the combination there of.....

I would like to also throw a conspiracy bone out.............swamp gas......ho ho.

Note: dbz represents echo return on target or density of objects in air......yellow/green heavy/moderate, then dark blue, then light blue

I've seen blackbirds get scared off of their roost at night. They usually can't find it again in the dark.

More Detailed Radar

Here is a better radar of the first plume. It looks to originate just south/southeast of the Highschool. The bullseye is very close to the rail line/ large irrigation circle for the waste water lagoon. Then down to the southeast towards river and the Landfill road.

This just could be the fireworks smoke plume???Because the plume doesn't go over Beebe. But, some does go over that subdivsion next to highschool.......which is the now famous housing pickup of the birds ....I bet.

but.....crops circles might not be too far off.

Don't rule out weather .....

I can't rule out weather .........yet

They keep saying there was no storm activity in the area........

When...........

There was a storm front just the the south and east.......

I see the first bird or smoke.....pass right thru or by those cells...........

That first wave.......

was probably the major killer or created the most trauma symptoms....that first swing

and look at the 3d volume image.......they go very high very quickly..........many fell back dead

Yet...I agree that many just ran into objects

There is alot of wierd weather at just this time of edge front..........

........weather still contributed to some of the deaths

as...

they cycled around ............three times at least

And....

Direct burst of fireworks did not create the trauma..........

or a ..

Explosive pressure wave...........at least that is what I am hearing from the radar??

Radar Sequence First Event

Just in case the weaher radar site dissappears, here are the sequence shots of the first radar events from Beebe, AR around 10:30pm 12/31/10.

Smoke plume from the fireworks is what they are being reported as. Indications that the Blackbird flock of over 10,000 birds are mixed in with the plume.

There were two other events similiar to the 10:30pm. The last one ended sometime after midnight.

Radar Sequence shots 2

Second set of shots. The dissipation of the first plume.

Yes. I notice the Storm Cells.

I can only post four pictures at a time.

I reported that the plume was bullseyed over the high school. It is the Arkansas State University. Might be experimental site where the irrigation circles are for agriculture or some such program.

It's Fred MacMurphy in "Son of Flubber 5". A whacky college professor who's experiment goes horribly wrong. See the antics as the trouble making fraternity gets a hold of the secret and goes amuck on campus.

Absent Minded Professor...........

I am sorry. For those not familiar with the reference. The "Absent Minded Professor" was a 1961 movie for the entire family. A unknown genius, yet absent minded , professor in a catastrophic college lab experiement, creates a rubber substance that defies most of newtons laws of physics.

Flubber.

In 1963, the same studio made a sequel, but not as successful "Son of Flubber".
Both starred a popular actor Fred MacMurphy as the professor.

In 1997, Robin Williams starred in an adaptation "Flubber".

When I hear college and odd events, I begin to wonder about those who have alot time on their hands, alot of experimental equipment, and alot of state funding. I am slightly wondering if these radar signatures are legit?

Trauma from impact with ground or stationary objects

It is looking like impact with the ground/stationary objects is going to be the official cause of death.

Medical test have revealed that the wieght of their own bodies was enough to cause trauma.

I would start to agree. Multiple flights over a mile long corridor disturbed by multiple firework explosions
over that corridor.

Reports of ......"Birds falling from the sky......dead"....... were incorrect and misleading.

I was in a glass building.....

......4 stories of glass cube.

A group of us on coffe break were standing near the windows........ when a flock of Cedar Wax Wings just flew smack at us.

Many flopped back on the overhang ledge dead.

The explaination was that the flock leader thought the reflection in the glass of the sky.........was the sky.

Final Note: (The other theory about the CedarWax Wings ...........there was a berry tree grove planted for landscape............the berries had matured and fallen on the ground........the Wax wings were reported to be eating those before the mass collision.............it was thought the berries had fermented and the CedarWax Wings were somewhat intoxicated....or FUI)

Smoke inhilation

One more thought...........Epilogue

Autopsy reports no toxins in the birds sent to the lab.

Yet......after seeing the radar of the smoke plume

I think some respiratory/weather issues might have brought down some birds...

Repeated passes thru smoke mixed with weather....

Be it Antimony sulfide, Ozone, Sulfur Dioxide, Nitric Oxide mixed with weather elements rain/fog.....or swamp gas

Here is an article I found while researching on cheap chinese or just fireworks smoke

Not for the birds.......but for next time your at a fireworks display.....little precaution

More Cool Stuff...........3d graphic

I know..........your getting sick of this Bird Story. But I found another graphic of the Radar. It relates to my other question before.

Just something to browse. I don't know what to make of it.

Exploding Swamp Gas at 12,000ft -15,000ft.......

Professioal Aerial Fireworks.........reportedly only make it to 1,000 to 3,000 ft in altitude from launch??

I like the rising pire of hot swamp gas. Sounds like creature from the deep Lagoon or something.....ho ho.

Maybe from the Arkansas State experimental waste lagoon or College Techno Prank?

Or the birds were riding on the pire of fireworks hot gases, smoke rising up high, odd weather pattern, , moisture boundry layer, mixed, and birds came down??

Birds don't fly that high. Well??? Something is show in this 3D image in mass.

If not just over analysis for fun. Beware, techno smarty's maybe mess'in with the radar data and our heads.

Natural Gas - Arkansas- Fayetteville Shale

More information if you're following this thread.

Looks like there is Shale Gas in the Beebe Arkansas Area. Shale gas has been in the news lately. Fracking for Natural Gas.

Here is a graphic of where the natural gas wells and companies currently in the Fayetteville Shale deposit.

Note: This is not a post for or against Fracking. Nor am I saying it had anything to do with the bird deaths. Just that there is Natural Gas in the area.

I am for independence from foriegn sources of energy. I also am for Soverign companies and communities working towards that independence.

Just something to browse. I just like the swamp gas line from Men in Black.

Seismic Zone - New Madrid Fault

More Geology.....

Beebe is also near a seismic zone. Known as the New Madrid Fault.

The are Hot springs in Arkansas. So you know there is geothermal pockets in the area.

Here are some more cool graphics on USGS studies......etc.

Basically, Beebe has experienced and will experience ground accelerations in the range of 5% to 13% the acceleration of gravity (See Chart for what that means) or .05g to .13g.

Note: there was no seimic activity the night of the Birds. No earthquakes on 12/31/10.Seismic activity has happen in the past geologic history of Beebe and Slight probablity of seismic activity in the future.
