Aru Island Scenery Package posted

Arndt,

Wonderful sceneries. The surrounding villages are great too!

See the screenshots.

Where can I find in your readme file the following add-ons?:friday:
jp_hangar6
jp_hangar6a
jp_hangar1b

Yes, you can. Separate from the package...these files. Then install them into the folders of same name. Delete filelist.dat in Scendb/ inf when finished.

Nice!

Great looking bases Arndt, I'm looking forword to getting them installed.
Now I got to research who used em and when. :ernae:

Thanks for the nice replys guys, after the long time building these bases it's good to see that others like them as well. I hope I get the hang of building now & can develop some more in this area. Merauke will be next!

Sorry for the missing hangars in the readme langereis, I have so many addons installed over years that I lost track of were they came from originally. It will be better next time.

Good luck Gedm,
I wasn't able to find anything on these locations except the lon/lat and some notices on the Pacific Wrecks Website. It would be nice to get some
historical background.

Greets Arndt and gedm, for some history try searching Aroe + airstrip name. The island names in the Pacific seem to have many different spellings. Sometimes totally different names. :isadizzy: Been researching Taberfane and found a few items with this spelling. In this txt file it has reference to Beufighters and B-25 C/D's. Jeeez talk about timing. With TR's and Sopwith's bird, plus a Beufighter in the works!!

Are these American or Japanese fields? Me likee! :amen:

Dauntless,
the fields are japanese, I don't think they were conquered by the allies.

dvslats,
thanks for the information. By the way, there is a problem with the distance between Australia and the "Aroe-Island Group". You can reach them from Darwin RAAF Airfield (by Maskrider) with a P 40 E + Droptank,
also a P 39 + Droptank or P 38 + Droptank, a Zero + Droptank can handle
the distance the other way round, but every time I try to make a bombrun with a B 25, B 26 or a Hudson I get wet feet halfway to target. And it's just about 800 miles, these planes should handle the trip. Is anyone having a solution for this?

Arndt

Arndt, I was just mentioning this to Rami and Dirtman the other day.
I was having a similar problem with one of my Mustangs from Iwo to Tokyo.
They said it was (if my memory serves) a warping issue related to the air file. Try another air file or if you have the know how check it out in air wrench. :gossip:

dvslats. thanks for the info regarding the bases, nothing worse than having all these great looking airdromes and not knowing who to fly out of them.
One stock airfield in particular comes to mind, Tsili Tsili, it is depicted usually as a Japanese base but in fact was never used by them. Another is Wau, I depicted it as a forward Japanese base as well in the K-61 campaign ,but as further research reveiled it never left RAAF hands throughout the war.
I quess it just shows how much research is in order to get a good historical campaign made.

Carry on :ernae:

...................beautiful blending
....................thank you:engel016:

Great work Arndt!

I too like them the way they are. They look authentic.

I am moving from the MTO to PTO for my next set of missions and campaigns. We will have to see if my older brothers in the USMC made any runs on them or their aircraft.........

I am consolidating my installs right now and moving to one scenery folder to share between all installs. I will be sure to put these where I can get to them easily.
Thanks again for your work.

Also, yes you should be able to make it over 800 miles at cruise speed in all three.

Hudsons had a cruise range of 1960 miles. 1345 gallons US
B-25s had a combat range of 1350 miles and ferry range of 2700 miles. 974 gallons US
B-26s had a combat range of 1800 miles and ferry range of 2200 miles. 942 gallons US

Let me look into the air files on mine and see what the fuel capacity is listed at compared to real life.

I will get back to you unless somebody else does it first.

Here is what is in the air files of my aircraft.

Hudson: 684 gallons US total all tanks.
B-25: 885 gallons US total all tanks.
B-26: 1384 gallons US total all tanks.

So, we are being shorted considerably on 2 out of the 3 and the B-26 should have MORE THAN ENOUGH RANGE.

Just before you warp, try cutting engines to 25% power then warp. See if that helps.

Mixture management in manual fuel mode...leaner settings saves a lot of gas...and swimming. And don't use warp unless you're watching the steak and beans on the stove. Use time compression to get there and RTB. Turn off TC when you make first contact with a bogie or enter the target area. Turn it back on for the trip home when you clear the target area and have no more bogies chasing.

One of the things that can run you out of fuel quick is to have a long warp leg at high speed. Lower the Speed, Extend your range.

Here's a sample:
Warp from Hansa Bay to Durand. About 330 miles.

At 224Knts. 18% fuel left after Warp.
At 270Knts. Ran out of Fuel 60 Miles Short of 2nd WP.
At 160Knts. 58% fuel left after Warp.

I think speed may be your range killer.

Thanks for the good & quick advise. I don't really have time at the moment to check things out but I will try your tips over the weekend.

Many thanks, Arndt
