As the nature of things progress...

Fed up painting ceiling.......here hopefully is what I have at the moment & what I am trying to achieve using FS9 technology.....Aircraft WIP is the K3 Vega Gull. Just tried calibrating my monitors again but main one still has a green bias........:banghead:

Screenshots all taken same date & time same heading. Base texture is same for both FS9 & FSX, but I have a different alpha as FS9 alpha gives too much shine.
Flying surfaces have a very mild hilight on ribs & spanwise, but no hilights on fuselage & spats.
Keith

Screenie #1 looks great on my screen; I wonder if it looks similar on yours. Some of the others look more gray than silver on my screen, especially those that show the shadowed side of the plane.

Thanks Mick for the feedback.
Yes, the shadowed side is difficult, but I think is better in a moving environment. As you well know its a difficult balance. To me FSX gives a better rendition, possibly because of the 2048 texture & the 'noise' blanket I have incorporated in both the base texture & the Alpha texture! I might need to increase that blanket as well as the hilights. Experiments to continue.
Think I have a slightly better balance between my two monitors....not perfect - I wonder how they do it on those multiscreen backdrops on TV? Now FSX native....if I can get the animations to work properly & then learn FSX textures....but that's probably a different story...don't hold your breath.

Bags of AWESOME looking stuff going on there, folks! :jump:
Bushi is in overdrive mode, and it's great to see Steve B here too!!!

Talking of gloss/semi-gloss finishes; yup, always a compromise in fs9 between specular settings and reflective alphas. Many of the doped fabric finishes were often more reflective than we give them credit.

That beautiful K3 Vega Gull is also looking a REAL TREAT - hang in there, Keith! :)

Okay, I've been a tad slow in getting the NEW test package together - Real life stuff has a habit of getting in the way, but doing my best, Gentlemen. I think you'll find the addition of the floater well worth the wait. We might just have the cowled Sea Tutor in the mix as well as the early version.

I have been playing with a few more schemes, all place holders until the paint kit is ready and I can do a proper job.

Phew!

At last I've coaxed the poly count to handle the fittings attached to 'Big' 646...

Ooooooohhh! They just keep getting sweeter and sweeter!

:ernaehrung004:

Cheers Mick!!! :ernaehrung004:

WOW! Fantastic details Nigel. Your Rotherham pump is another jewel.

Bless you, John - that detail was fun to build/texture. :wavey:

Edit: Originally I animated it to work as purely wind-driven - but from watching videos of the real deal, just didn't look right.
When I finally realised it relied far more on engine propwash I 'hooked' it up to the engine animation and liked what we got.

That there 646 floater has got my attention. Heck of a job there Nigel old chap. I have been fertlin in me paintshop for a few hours today.

Absolutely gorgeous livery, Steve!!! :jump:

I'm so enthralled by some of the AWESOME liveries that you, Bushi and others obviously wan't to get cracking on!
So I'll put together a pre-release paintkit as soon as I'm through pushing polys for you all to have fun with.
