'AT&T Struggles To Hold On To iPhone'

Thanks Panther for the update.

I heard that AT&T was coming out with a monthly membership service for iPhones, sort of like 'pay as you go'. But I havent heard anything since.

All I'll say is that I'm not a fan of AT&T having been burned twice with their internet services.

I went in to an AT&T store and checked on coverage in my area. In the first place, the clerks were the opposite of the folks in the Apple store, the Apple store people are knowledgeable, attentive and helpful and have an IQ of about 40 points above the three AT&T clerks I saw. Finally, when they could read their own coverage map (about 20 minutes into the conversation) they admitted that while they have "two-bar " coverage out on I-95, they could not expect to have any coverage within 15 miles of my home. I asked if they had a plan that ensured national coverage, ie. the ability to roam (without roaming fees) since they didn't have native coverage. Puzzled look, a bit of whispering, and then, "Come back in the morning, the Manager will be here then."

Hell, even tho I want an iPhone, I will wait until it is no longer exclusive to these idiots.

Rant mode off.

I have been burned by 2 cell phone companies massively and it has damaged my credit. I am very leary to have another 2 year plan. If they are messing with me, over charging and all, and they will not take things I didnt sign for 'off' my bill, then I do not want anything to do with them.

So darn difficult these days to find security in a cell phone company. In the old days, a phone company took care of you and didnt want to lose you. Today, its a new world, a new business, new practices, and seemingly, quantum physics and psycodelllic billing practices...

:faint:

Use a pre-paid plan.
Providers hate them but they work for us.
And if Sofie is OS she always has a Satphone.

Ive had prepaid before and it worked brilliant. They were talking about doing this with iPhone when they also announced iPhone 3.0 OS.

I hope they do it.

Sat-phone, eh? Man. I havent heard of those since reading the Left Behind book series. Always wanted to check one out.
