ATC-controlled approaches in FSX?

Navy Chief

Senior Member
Many years ago (mid 1970s), I remember that it was common for aircraft to land via ATC controlled approaches. During final approach, ATC would advise pilots if aircraft was nose high or low, or make heading adjustments.

Seems like there was an addon for Fs9 that would do this, although not very good.

Was anything like this ever created for FSX?

I'm very interested in Ground Controlled Approach (GCA) using Precision Approach Radar (PAR) emulated in FSX. I think there may have been some mention of this on a thread here at SOH a few months back? I need to take a proper look, but can the RFN gauge do this?

If there were a PAR emulator for FSX I'd be interested in trying it out in multiplayer...

This would be cool indeed - am not aware of anything "AI" controlled, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The only thing I've experienced was flying PAR as part of training back in the days of vCAF - and that was done on either VATSIM, or on a separately hosted session - can't recall, it was the very early 2000s. What I know is that it was "human" controlled, and was very rewarding - and a good honest assessment of flying skills (or lack thereof, as was sometimes the case! :) )

I rarely have time to fly online anymore, and so an AI CGA/PAR type of utility would be of interest.
