ATIS voice comes on by itself

LCBORDEN

Ol' Jarhead
Hello fellow simmers, Have an interesting thing going on, Whenever I try a flight the local ATIS comes on both voice and text and I can not turn it off. This happened once long ago, but I have not been simming in a very long time nine or ten months and I have forgotten what steps I took to stop it coming on automatically. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to restart simming.

You probably took off and once you get airborne your COM1 is set to a random airport's atis/awos. Just change the com1 freq by one digit it should turn off.

For the text you need to disable automatically open ATC window.

Change the frequency on the radio? I would imagine if you come into an area with an ATIS broadcast and the radio is tuned to that freq. you will start to hear things.

Ol' Jarhead, Look under the current weather on the free flight screen. There is a check box for ATC on by checking this box. Try removing the check and see this this solves your problem. Hope this helps. ----- Looks like had the wrong idea, ATIS, not ATC. Sorry.

Thanks

Hey that was quick...I was trying to "Sneak" into the air without contacting the tower. I will try those suggestions and see what is what... Thanks for the quick reply everyone.

Usually you find that you are just tuned in to some random airports ATIS. :icon_lol: This happens to me a lot when flying cross country, or around the world in FSX as I will get in to an area where my COMM2 is tuned in to an airport and it randomly comes on. Like you at first I didn't realize what was happening, and thought FSX had gone bonkers. Now I just bump the freq by 1 number and all is good. Just be sure you don't tune in another local ATIS station or ATC if you like to fly in silence.
