Attempting to add aircraft textures, but made things worse.

Ok. I downloaded a King Air 350 texture file with three textures (USAF, USN, and US Army). I placed that folder with the three textures in the Community folder. Started sim, textures not there. I edited the Master King Air 350 aircraft.cfg file with the additional three textures, but when I tried to add the accompanying texture folders, it would not let me. I tried copying the King Air 350 Simobjects folder, but it wouldn't let me.

I deleted the King Air 350 Folder. It is in my Recycle Bin. I tried to Restore it, but now it won't let me.

So, not only was I unable to add the textures; now I have NO King Air 350. It is in my Recycle Bin, but other than delete it completely, I don't know what I can do.

The security settings for the folder indicate that I have FULL access to everything, but apparently not? :banghead: NC

So...if you right-click on that deleted aircraft folder, is there no "restore" option? Can you cut/copy and place it on your desktop?

Oh, there is a Restore option, but when I try that, it says, "Your Organization Does Not Allow You To Place This File Here", and the other option available is Cut, but I get the same message as before. I will live without the King Air 350 in my sim before I go through the hassle of reinstalling this sim! Way too much hassle. Lesson learned, but GRRRRR.... NC

Apparently it is possible to delete folders from that Master directory, but not put files into it??

Has the Sim been moved out of the default location, may be to a separate drive? Sounds odd that something deleted cannot be put back! :banghead:

Did you install to the default location or specify your own folder? Best to do the latter...

If it helps the only texture I have installed is in
E:\MSFS\Community\liveries\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_A320_NEO\TEXTURE.DELTA
with the aircraft.cfg file in the Asobo_A320_NEO folder.

Works fine.

Think that's the problem - the Official folder is protected...have you restarted the sim since?
It may just redownload the missing content.

I have started the sim several times since. The King Air is in my Recycle bin. It is strange that the Official Folder is protected, yet I am able to delete items from it. NC

All Content Manager shows is that it is up to date. But aircraft is not installed, so I don't understand. It is in my Recycle Bin. NC

I have a nasty feeling the only way this will be corrected is a uninstall/reinstall. Darn it.

Archive the AK 350 folder with WinRar the open the zip and drag it into the sim folder. That will bypass the restriction your facing.

Archive is not a option from within the Recycle Folder. The file will not restore. NC

Argh... yes I see you have very limited options once it's in the recycle bin. I couldn't find a way to trick it into letting me archive it from there. Sorry.

Only an idea, but have you checked the status in the MSFS Content Manager? Maybe you can re-install it from there?

Will investigate, thanks! NC

Content Manager indicates the King Air is up to date. Except that it is not installed, and is in the Recycle Bin.

In process of uninstalling/reinstalling the sim. First of many, I am sure! NC

Make sure you install it to a directory that's NOT in WpApps! That will keep it from encrypting itself in my experience.

I installed it to D:\FS2020 my second time around... has been good for me...

Hmm, I wonder if I lost my trees because of an encryption problem during the update install or something?

Also, you've probably figured this out already, but, I highly recommend not changing any of the files in the OneStore directory, just in the Community directory.

Since the King air is a default aircraft the program should reinstall the deleted files on the next boot-up. Do you have a link for those liveries???

All right chief.. Tell me, which version of the game do you have?? Is it the Game Pass version or the Microsoft store version (Yup, theres a big difference )???
and what the hell was this skinner thinking using air force trainee cadet orange on a navy plane???

I know it´s not the same problem but it happened to me with liveries for A-320, tried to remove most of the liveries present in liveriesmegapack, alter aircraft.cfg and all of the sudden A320 was gone...only two airliners my luck made a back-up before. Then I removed liveries A320 from community folder and got the plane back. Scary...some of those liveries packs are tricky when you want just a few of the liveries not the hundreds they offer (thanks). Now I know what to do and how.Best of luck to you Navy Chief

If you still have the KA folder, just for spits and giggles, try sticking into the Community folder and see if the sim sees it.
