Attempting to add aircraft textures, but made things worse.

If you still have the KA folder, just for spits and giggles, try sticking into the Community folder and see if the sim sees it.

Well, I couldn't take it out of the Recycle Folder unless I deleted it. It would not restore. I ended up uninstalling/reinstalling the sim. The livery that started all of this mess? Well, I still don't have it installed. Scared to mess with it! NC

NC, all of the liveries that I've put in went into the Package/Community folder, not the Package/Official folder. From what I've read, you can't do like you did with FSX/P3D and add it to the aircraft.

Pam, I have the Microsoft version. Pete
welll, Theres three different versions of that. The Game Pass version, the Microsoft store version and the Steam Version.

The Game Pass version ( the 1 dollar standard and the upgrades ) wants you too install things in C:\Users\warch\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community and nowhere else. It also wont recognize .mdl files.

The Microsoft store version wants you to install things in (install drive ):\( Install Directory )\Community, but does recognize .mdl files when ported correctly.

Ive got no clue what Steam wants.

Placing your addons anywhere else other than the specific locations I have listed above will result in problems.. There are as many as three Community folders on your drive. One is in app data, the next is in the install drive and install directory and the third is in wpsystem. two of those are hard linked to the third, which is the main community folder. FS2020 knows which are links and which one is the main folder for that specific version. Thats why its very important to only install addons to the correct community folder..

I managed to install the texture, and get it to show up ok. But me thinks there might be a problem here.... NC

NC, as far as problems go with texturing the default aircraft, this is minor. LOL Planes such as the 747 and 787 are mirrored left to right and other weird stuff. Lots of new tricks for this old dog to learn.

Oh yes, I do know that! And yes, it is a minor hiccup. I am definitely NOT complaining. I couldn't create these paints, myself. I do, however, really appreciate the talents of those who do!! NC

I have the MS store version
Choose to install im my drive D so I got Community and Official folders there. When trying to apply liveries used a file called "megaliveries" and wanted to eliminate most of them. No need for hundreds of paints. Doing so I made a mistake trying to change aircraft.cfg on the planes I found on "official" folder. Lost A320 immediately. After try and error, figured out that we cannot change aircraft.cfg on that folder and if we want to add or dismiss any livery one should use/alter aircraft.cfg only in "community".
So I got a folder "liveries.a320/a" with a serie of .locPack files, layout.json, manifest.json, Simobjects/Airplanes/Asobo_A320_NEO . Then folders MODEL.AI(texture name) and MODEL.(Text. name) model.template, model.templateai, textures folders and aircraft.cfg.Find out that some airplanes miss the model.ai.
So far everything is a ok...

Now I know what you mean...tried to load 747 textures (liveriesmegapack.zip) and even-though not able to do better cannot understand what´s the use for this ones. I´m obliged for some others planes textures but really why the ones for 747? they´re useless...
