Attention all DC-3 fans !

Hello Dennis,

This can be done to some extent, in the wet and using PrecipitFX.
(You might recognise Wrigley v2):untroubled:

However there is no real propwash, like a simulator helicopter, it's just a line or ring of dust
or spray.
Nothing gets blown away.

I see the In-Op piece of sticky tape is still on the old Sperry radio/AP....any chance that will be fixed some day?

That's very true of course, but if you are following real life procedures in other ways, why not stow them?

Just a thought on that, is it possible to replicate prop wash as it is with helicopters?

I'm being sarcastic (an adjective, describing a type of humor) on that quote hence the big grin emoji. :adoration:

I was testing the smoke effects and shaders, was not meant to be accurate. Video was made public for your benefit. Otherwise it was an internal testing video.

I don't think any developer has done that for their model, but there is a developer who has done engine jet wash and that is PrecipitFX. So would gather it can be done for prop models.

Some work I've done a couple years ago on texturing the radials. Possibly looking a doing some alternative version like natural aluminum.

I think Ken means to fix the Sperry AP, Sue, so the In-Op sticky tape can be removed.. :smile:

We'll need a lotta luck for the Sperry AP to be programmed sooner or later, Ken. It's quite a complex apperature of course. Not anything like an altimeter or rpm gauge to code... Bummer that the Sperry AP in the default DC-3 VC is 2D so i don't want to use that. Mike nore Wozza will be able to help with coding a 3D Sperry so we can only hope for another programmer to help us out with it. Maybe once the V3 model is finally outhere... ( not that long anymore before that'll happen !.... ;-)

I love the texturing on the cowlings. An old birdie like this one most likely has had the cowlings off many times often in remote locations for "unscheduled" maintenance or field expedient repair to get her back to home base. I wonder if the real article was so confidence inspiring to fly? This one feels solid as the Rock of Gibraltar in flight as long as you don't ask it to do anything quickly. I can't wait to put on my fifty mission crush hat and settle into those worn leather seats. Obie

Are your remastered sounds including the effects I hear at around 4:36-4:50 of that first video, it's right after takeoff that I hare the props making that chop sound
like a chung-chung-chung.... Nice ride on that first video and nice shine job too.
Was that real fruit in that first video? Fare must of been Ching-bada-bing. Didn't see any showers in that first video ride like Air Emirates has but a nice sink with towels will do :biggrin-new:
But hey, that's South Florida for ya $$$$$

In the video the recording is from the passenger compartment and behind the radials. In the cockpit, your sitting in front of the radials and sounds different. You hear more props than engine. On our team we have experience DC3/C-47 crewman.

A quote from one of them...

"I have to say this is the best sound set I have heard of the C-47 other than the real aircraft (so very close and I love the sound when you bring the power back Hmmm). Superb."

Manfred's paint job will have the new textured radials when v.3 is released.

Can you imagine the man hours it would take. It is a three stage process to buff out aluminum. You start with the red polish, followed by a white polish, then lastly the blue polish.

I remember seeing a video where they had a large crew polishing a large dull aluminum aircraft to nice shine.
 
Ted , I would loved to see that chap step back and show how much he achieved .... I could almost hear the mumbles (HOLY CRAP , WHAT HAVE I LET MYSELF IN FOR) :biggrin-new: ..... I'm going to need a bigger buffer machine :biggrin-new:

It is probably like the painters who work on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It is a year round job keeping fresh paint on it.
They start at one end and when they get done at the other end, it's time to start over.

Err, punishment is all I'll say and I know from the USCG in my 2nd year. Did one Historical HU16 Goat under the Hot Corpus Christi Sun in July. I wasn't found last year in Las Vegas's Summer, Lesson learned:devilish: and managed to tag along with the USMC TDA in Yuma AZ, missing out on buffing a Goat.
