The CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update Rev 1.40 Install Pack has been released and is now available for your downloading and combat flight simming pleasure at: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/category/10-eto-pto-sim-outhouse/

This package was designed to be installed on an existing CFS3 ETO Expansion install, whether it be already to ETO 1.20, ETO 1.30, or ETO 1.31. It will work on any of the three updates. ETO 1.30 and ETO 1.31 have been discontinued, and are now both completely included in ETO 1.40.

Please read and follow all installation instructions included.

Note: Be sure to place your CFS3 ETO Expansion Theater in ERA 1 and select Stock Spawn Mode before installing this Update.

The CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update 1.40 includes many files that were previously released with CFS3 ETO Expansion Rev 1.0 and CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumalative Update Rev 1.20. All of these files retain their original names, but otherwise have been greatly modified to improve this sim. They are intended to overwrite the existing files.

The CFS3 ETO Expansion Update 1.40 supercedes the previous CFS3 ETO Expansion Update Rev 1.30 and CFS3 ETO Expansion Update Rev 1.31 updates. You still need CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.0 and CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update 1.20 installed prior to installation of this Update.

NOTE: This CFS3 ETO Expansion Update 1.40 was designed to be installed on an ETO 1.20 install, an ETO 1.30 install, or an ETO 1.31 install with no problems, as long as all install instructions are followed to the letter. The ETO 1.30 and ETO 1.31 Updates will be discontinued upon release of CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update Rev 1.40. You will still need ETO 1.0 and ETO 1.20 in place in order to install this ETO 1.40 Update package.

Here is a brief overview of the installation process. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the following section.

The installer will install updated files to your CFS3 ETO Expansion install.

The installation also has the ability to reinstall the Original Release Install Files (ORIFs). See the readme documents in the CFS3 ETO Expansion READMEs folder for the specific operation of the above items.



Installing the CFS3 ETO Expansion Update Rev 1.40.exe

Note: Be sure to place your CFS3 ETO Expansion Theater in ERA 1 and set the ETO Spawn Selector to 1, Stock Spawn Mode, before installing this Update.

  1. Run the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.30 Obsolete File Remover.exe. This will remove obsolete files and folders from your CFS3 ETO Expansion main game folder.

Note: If the location of your CFS3 ETO Expansion folder is NOT in the default location of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games, simply right-click on the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Obsolete File Remover.exe and follow the installation procedure. Change the default path in the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Obsolete File Remover.exe to match the path of your install. It may take a few minutes for the program to run.

NOTE: Do NOT run the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Obsolete File Remover.exe AFTER installation of CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update Rev 1.40.exe. You will remove necessary files if you do.

2. Run the CFS3 ETO Expansion Update Rev 1.40.exe program. The default path for the install is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion

Change the install path if your Microsoft Games folder is at a different location, by clicking the button to the right of the install path text.

You will see the default path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion, browse to change the path to match your computer. Click ok, next, and start.

The installer will place the updated files into your install.


Note: due to many false readings by numerous anti-virus programs and concerns by users, the CFS3 ETO Backup.exe, CFS3 ETO Expansion BDP Zapper.exe, and CFS3 ETO Expansion ZX Zapper.exe files have been completely replaced using a different program system. These three *.exe files will have been installed with the update.

3. Do NOT remove the original desktop icons for the ETO Backup and ETO BDP Zapper.

4. Now run the ETO BDP Zapper immediately after the installation of the CFS3 ETO Expansion Update Rev 1.40.exe is finished, and after you have sent the above-referenced icons to your desktop.

5. Follow the instructions in the document named “02 Final Step for completing ETO 1.40 NEK set update.doc”.

6. You will have to manually delete the viewUI.xml from your Application Data folder.

A. In XP, the location is: C:\Documents and Settings\User Name (Your Name)\Application Data\Microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ folder for the new viewUI.xml to take effect.

B. In Vista and Windows 7, the location is: C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ (Where XXX = your user name)

Please follow the instructions found in this document: 02 Final Step for completing ETO 1.40 NEK set update.doc.

1 x SM81 ai medium bomber. 1937/39 period.
1 x FW190A5 night intruder 1943/45 period.
1 x Mosquito Night fighter MkVI 1943/44 period.

The British bombers now all have bombsights, and the American bombers have been equipped with the new Norden bombsight mod, both by Capt. Winters.

It will also include a selection of new vehicles and SCW-Period ships.

QC_carriers as airfields will remain standard, however the QC_Shipping mod is now included as an option with complete instructions on its installation.

In addition, the CFS3 ETO Expansion Era Music Swapper will again be available with the ETO 1.40 Install Pack as an option.

A large selection of new missions will also be available.

We have also provided brand new versions of the CFS3 ETO Expansion ZX Zapper.exe, CFS3 ETO Backup.exe, and CFS3 ETO Expansion BDP Zapper.exe, which, as far as we know from testing, WILL NOT be affected by most, if not all, anti-virus programs. After all, not all existing A-V programs could be tested, but they are proven safe with the best-known ones."

One quick question here. Is it just my install or is the "eto_leigh_light_gun", needed for the Leigh Light on the Liberator GR.VI to work properly, missing? At least I can't find one in the guns folder and the light sounds like a .50 Browning.

By all means, please run the CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.40 Obsolete File Remover.exe as it's the one you're supposed to run and the only one included. I guess I made a typo. My apologies.:d

I've glossed over installation instructions to my loss before and found that following them EXACTLY worked more often than veering off course on assumptions. 1.40 loads easily and looks gorgeous....will have time to explore later this week and be back to you....thanks again! GAW
 
I'm just wondering if I can run it into an empty directory and simply pick out the bits. I have an early version of ETO but which is heavily modded - I'm not running it into that! And if possible, I'd rather not go through the whole rigmarole of downloading the whole lot again - my hard drive is getting a bit tight...

:kilroy:Nigel, you sure can. Just set up a dummy install and pick and choose to your heart's content.

NOTE: the ETO 1.40 Filremover gets rid of some files that are obsolete. Give me a little time, and I can get a list to you so you won't have a conflict. However, my only list includes things to be removed from 1.20 onward, NOT 1.0. That was done in 1.20, so a 1.20 install would be recommended.:d
