Attention cfs2 simmers!

I just click the JPG zip, select rename.... using the backspace key I remove the .jpg leaving only the XXXX.zip
Then just click and unzip as usual.

That's where I'm confused NO Dice. I right click on the picture of the plane and then I left click on the word "downoad" and the so called jpg image shows up on my desk top but I can't rename it because it's not named jpg. This is the name I copied off of it so you can see what I mean. f4f_vmf223.zip What am I doing wrong?

I'm a computer illiterate, and this is a little convoluted but it works for me. I am using Win7, by the way.

Download Morton's jpg file to your desktop. That should put an icon on your desktop. Right click on the icon and a box comes up with a lot of choices. Go down to the line "Send to" and place your mouse pointer on it. That should give you some more choices in another box. Left click on "Compressed (zipped) folder". This should put a zip icon on your desktop. It will have the same name as the Jpg/icon you downloaded from Morton's site. But this one can be opened using winRAR. Just left click this icon and a new box containing the xxx.zip.jpg file will open. Right click and slide your mouse to "View File"...for me it's the 5th line in the selection menu.....and left click. Boom, you should have all the files. From there just go to the menu bar and click the Wizard button and it will put everything into a nice neat folder.
There may be something simpler but I tried this several times and it works for me.

OK, thanks so much George. Used your method and it works!! Thank you again!

Okay guys,

I'm going to get my Windows 3.1 geek on here. Looking at Morton's system, I figured there had to be a better way than individually renaming each file. Call me lazy, but I don't have that kind of patience. So, I recalled some ancient knowledge to do a work-around.

To rename all these downloads at once, do the following.

1) Create a new folder on your desktop.

2) Download all your pictures from Morton's site.

3) Go into your Windows\System 32 folder and look for "cmd.exe" (This is the old Windows command prompt)

4) Copy this file into your "New Folder" on your desktop.

5) Open cmd.exe in your "New Folder"

6) Type in the following command..."rename *.jpg *.zip*

Presto! Even though the ".zip" is doubled up, they open right up and it saves you the trouble of having to do each one alone.

Hey Rami,

Question; Would it work if you did..."rename *.zip.jpg *.zip* ...?

That way you get rid of the double zip. Just a thought and I have not tried it yet.

Now that I think about it. It might not work were the extention is the last part. I think it may asume the .zip to be part of the name.

If you try it let me know if it works. You could make a batch file to do this.

Till Later,
John

John,
I'll let you know when I try the next batch. :wavey:

UPDATE: Nope.

Morton, a special thanks...

Morten,

Combing through your files, I want to send off a special thanks for one of the skins in the AH Bf-109e package. Specifically, I am referring to the "Double Bar and Chevron" E-3 flown by Obstlt. Hugo Witt, Gerschwaderkommodore of JG 26. In many of my aviation books, I have come across this two-tone green and blue underside paint scheme several times, and to be able to have it in the sim is really neat. Thanks!

On a more humorous note...The German language gets the gold medal for stringing together the longest words possible which are meant to be said in conversation.

Kelti,

I wasn't thinking about uploading it...I was just taking a stroll in Morton's new Skydrive garden and wanted to give him some feedback on things I hadn't seen in a while. I left him additional feedback about a Bf-109e I liked. :mixed-smiley-010:

A new Wimpy model? Where? By Cook? But it looks good to me.

As before, the Skydrive thumbnails usually only display one of the Texture sets inside the download. Most of them contains several versions.

This caused a lot of stir! Thanks for all suggestions and hints. I'm sure there's a lot of ways to do this. But I just select the files (the little checkbox in the upper right corner of the thumbnails) and choose download from the Skydrive menubar. Then I locate the files on my harddrive, delete the .JPG ending from from the filename and unzip. Of course, to do this the explorer must be set to show all File extensions.

Rhumbaflappy,
Yes your discussion sounds very familiar to me. I spent some hours trying to figure out ways to to direct linking etc on Skydrive. If we now have permanent linkaddresses that's good. Let's see what Onedrive will come up with.

Update:
Got a message that they had begun rolling out Onedrive. Only difference at first glance was the titlechange to Onedrive ...
