Attention Col. Rami - Top Secret - Eyes only

Under stood Col. Rami ,, not finished testing yet , A few more thing,s to investigate , I,m happy that , two results , have come to light , that I hadn,t known about before ,

Sarg,

So what settings are the tanks.

I want to have the wing tip tanks on the LA-11

current config.

525 fuel left main
526 fuel right main
531 fuel center 1
532 fuel center 2

Any thought to the order? Should different tanks be used?

What do you think?

Hi Blood _Hawk , center 1 , I use as no 1 tank , force of habit I guess ,
but set Unknown to number of extra tanks , Center 2 , I make tank 2, because , its the only tank that will pump fuel forward into tank 1 , and vise vrsa , the others just consecutive numbers , I usually set them to unknown 2 , Tank 2 will also Dump fuel via the 1% panel Red rocker switch , as well as the JBW tank dump switch ,
If your adding drop tank,s after , Check the drop tank no,s as well .
Even though air edd will only give you hex , infoe , Tank no is top left ,
first entree , be sure to make these consecutive as well , You don,t need to confuse the sim by having a drop tank and a main tank using the same number ,, I think the sim will read Aux wing tank,s ,, but I,m not so sure it will read and use tip tank,s ,, I,ve never had the need to try those ,

Just a slight correction on the last fuel test 80% using the 8 key board number -- checking key board assignment turn,s out to be 60% throttle -
taged to number 8 key :mixed-smiley-027:

Hey Sarg,

do you have an airfile with the following entries...

533 center tank 3
534 drop tank 1
535 drop tank 2

If we have an airfile with them then I can add them. Then maybe we'll be able to make a guage to use them.

I have the following already...

527 left aux fuel tank
528 right au fuel tank

so the order you suggest is...

525 fuel left main --- tank 3
526 fuel right main --- tank 4
531 fuel center 1 --- tank 1
532 fuel center 2 --- tank 2

Oh also try this ini file for airedit...

View attachment aired.zip

till later,
John

Jeepers I was sure there was a tank 3 , think I could find it , no sir , any way Aux 2 serves that function ,,

I,m sure your aware not to use this left drop tank for a single center tank , coding for center tank is different ,

That,s the order I set up , but it really makes no difference , and I haven,t tryed this yet , If you tag a wing as number 2 tank , would the electric pump pull fuel , into tank 1 ?? probably not a good idea in combat , to make the wing,s different weight,s , so that,s the reason I don,t make either wing a 2 ,

Thanks for the inni file , I,ll have a look ,

If you have Aired152 you won't need the ini file as it has it already. most of the unknowns won't be unknown any more.

Thank you for the help. Time to put it to work.

Sarg Willy,

Thanks for this...I will get back around to working on this as quickly as I can!

Got some time today , tryed shifting fuel from wing tank left No -2 to center tank -1 ,, No that don,t work ,, Only center tank no 2 seems to transfer fuel ,,

The last shot at kicking the can ,

Throttle %/ Mix % / tank 1 / prop/ Map/ Boost/COG/P-Trim
50%// 25-30 // 30.0 // 1,650 //15.5 /-7.0 //27.9 / -1.25
24.1 left
5.9 used

ALT--3725.08
kts---169.4
195--mph 20-mile marker ,,

Situation opp,s Lift off -- 500 ft+set up controls ,,
stay around 250 ft minute climb , maintain 160 kts ,
avoid coarse correction,s

I was most surprized to see her maintain climb and slowly
pick up speed too ,,

Sarg,

I will attempt to get around to testing this over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to follow through with this!

Col Rami --

Should have been called Widow Maker ,
Prop Feather work,s ,

But
Warning - Warning !!!!-- Left engine Only
Hydrolic pump ****
*** Hyd WARN - Light ON ! ***

coming in Left Engine out ,(( No Gear down ))
I got the Fairy flare , second finger salute ,
better known as Abort Stupid , try putting
the wheel s down next time ,,

Manuel Pump Gear down ,,, work,s !!!
the quicker the better !!!

and NO Flap,s to slow down ,,,
You have to warn Pilot,s about
that oversite !!
( going to change my nickers now )

With flaps working ,

my reduction on flap lift
was not enough , She floats tooo much
returning to land ,,

Reccommend Erk,s perform following
adjustment,s to air frame ----

Flap Angle reduce to = 0.6
Flap lift reduce = 0.22
moved the Gear Drag = 120

That is better , Col
she drop,s in with 2 x 500 lbers
at a controlled sink rate ,

hewman , I may have missed that , I don,t think I,ve opened AH Hurri II pack , yet anyway , having said that , I did find 44 gallon tank,s from a book I was checking for Whirlwind spec,s that had everything listed but Westland ,
Ahha found it Hurricane , 44 ,and 90 gal drop tanks , as listed from British aircraft of WW II ,,John Frayn Turner ,,, humn book is rather dated though , 1975 ,
Hay I,m all ears , so post away , wouldn,t be the first time I was wrong ,:very_drunk:

I'm sure some marvellous chap sorted out the plumbing for them within the .air file of the Hurri II. There was such a superb team involved in that project.
They were based around Thicko's tanks IIRC, and they were produced in Medium Sea Grey, Night Black, and Azure Blue so they could be used in any theatre.

The Whirlwind wasn't fitted with 'em.
She was passed to carry two 500lbers, but speed had to be limited to below 360mph or the ailerons twitched. This turned to snatching around 400mph. The max speed achieved was 318mph at 15,000ft.

Funny you should mention the twitching , I didn,t want to scare the Col on his first test flight , I,m getting cross buffeting , speed wobble around 270 Kts , Tryed upping the visual overspeed setting , without to much success , so I,m open to sugestion,s guy,s ,

Hewman , Very nice model pic,s looks like 1-48 scale , I have an attic , full of those from 1980,s -- Just WWII , kits

oh I know this one...

Let me look in the airfile and I'll get back to you. Is it a left to right or up and down wabble?

check your yaw dampening. depending on which version of Aired your using, yaw stability2. also check the yaw center. its set to zero. I noticed on the hurricane that its at 25. maybe moving it up might help.

do you have the airfile set to use engine thrust against the rudder? I wonder if the two engines are the reason its more pronounced. maybe if you reduced it combined with moving it up a little.

I had a simular issue with the L-44. Off hand I forget what I did to fix it. That was waggling and porposing. It was like an amusment park ride.

Test it with the AI as well. You might have to fine tune it even more for them.

I seem to have nailed it down , after ajustments , that got progressivly worse , with in the air file 3 4 try,s with every one worse than the last !! At least the gold edition , one was better , Figured I corrupted some thing ,, Back to the upload file and tryed a different approach ,

CFG entry,s
E_W_ROLL = 8334.0
E_W_PITCH = 7889.0
E_W_YAW = 16433.0

Diving now 320 kts and rock steady with out the craddle rock ,,:very_drunk:
