• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Attention Yago

I've had a few rocks pm'd at me over the last year and thought about ditching this forum. Evidently I'm a jerk for bringing an aspect of real aviation into the place. Sorry if you're one of the offended. Many around here have screamed out loud for realness, but I guess that only applies to the models.

There is definately way more cyber-combat here than what I care for, and a person with opinions needs to have a thick skin to interact, to say the least. I've learned that quiting with finality and slamming the door shut is too drastic, and maybe there are more than just a few people here who need to take a short break. My viewing time here at SOH has dropped off drastically, and I'm feeling pretty damn good about it.

I have an inside view on how it can be for a developer or painter, freeware plane maker, scenery maker, airfile creator, etc, what they go through. The amount of time one can take on a single repaint can be days... They work on it on their own spare time, when they could be watching TV, listening to some good music, out with friends, taking a drive, or sleeping after a very hard days work at a real job. When they are finished, and have their work totally scrutinized, and it was donated to all of the 'guys' (and girls) and the loudest voices are the negatives, then it can be disheartening for these people.

Working hard and being some of the best in the world, only to be put under a magnifying glass can work a number on them. They say that hurting someone 'within' can hurt worse them smacking them upside the head.

H once said something profound here in the SOH. You dont have to demand to be right all the time. I think when we are friendly to each other, the place is just plain awesome. But when we start going out of our way to say that we think that isnt as right as 'we' like it, or that just doenst look right in FSX, or other things like that, then you start taring down people, and when you tare down enough developers, you wind up with no more addons.

Kindness goes a long way. If you have a comment that isnt really nice, why not just try to hold it in. Smile and say, to each their own, and comment on things that you do like. Someday, perhaps that same person will make something that you absolutely freak out on and think is the best, and it will be because you didnt say anything critical about some flaws or things you didnt like and they had a chance to get better and better instead of just quitting.

Thats all I know man....

Peace! Really cool, positive peace. :ernae:

This is quite sad to see happening. First Yago, now Bob. I realize that to many this seems like a double whammy. . .two of the preeminent photoreal painters gone within a few days along with Bob's talent for producing some beautiful props, it would seem that there will be a great deficit within the community and that goes without saying...

It is, we might as well stop buying quality payware, who else will make super-awesome paints?

Many say they're leaving, but the only ones who stay gone are the ones who're banned. I hope some of the bans of late are temporary. I don't know whether banana bob's paints are good or not, but I think I'll go see once and for all. I don't think I can dislike a photoreal repaint. I wish I knew how to myself.

I for one, enjoy your real aviation contributions. As a pilot you add another layer or dimension of knowledge for those who never had the chance to actually fly RL aircraft.

Keep um coming!
