Cirrus, by any chance could that be "Sentimental Journey"? I've seen her up close and personal, but that was back in 89. So going by what I can see of the tail, I think that's her. ;)

Cirrus, I believe Gary is correct... I believe he was referring to your original post there of the B-17 you saw... Which would be Sentimental Journey based out of AZ.

here you go just finished uploading

Thanks Witt, I figured that was her. ;) Great picture of her coming in over the fence Cirrus.

Did you happen to see both sides of the nose? I'm just wondering if they changed her hair color to match on both sides. Back in 89 she was a blonde on one side and a brunett on the other. For what reason I never found out. I used to chat with one of the co-pilots a few years ago but I've lost his email address..... he never knew the reason either.

Question of the night. Do you know why she was turned so you only saw her back?

I never knew that Gary... Don't know if its still that way.. don't have time to look right now... Hey, but as to your question.... I can't think of anything, other than that pose was based on that Betty Grable picture... Other than that, beats me... what's the answer?

I thought Sentimental Journey was usually stationed here at Falcon Field.

I never noticed that about her hair on each side, lol..

Answer to the question..... she was pregnant at the time they took the photo that was used for the nose art.

Cirrus, anytime photos of these old warbirds are shown, it sure makes me happy. Same for videos too.

You should be able to see the Collings Foundation's warbirds at Gillespie Field San Diego April 28th.

For those interested, here's their schedule.... http://www.collingsfoundation.org/cf_schedule-wof.htm

Liberty Belle will be in California all of April as well. You should definitely try to see both B-17's this summer.... Nothing like the sound of those engines overhead..... nothing...

Gillespie Field is 5 minutes from my house, and it's where Dad's hanger is.
Aluminum Overcast is supposed to be here next week...It's gonna be a Fortress Doubleheader for me! :woot:
Here's a pic I took a couple of years ago when we had to "hold position for the Fortress" :d
