B-25J at Hill AFB Museum

Nice photos Pauke. What never made sense to me are the type of high gloss paint jobs
a lot of museum aircraft receive. Such as with this B-25 Mitchell. To me,...it detracts from the authenticity of the airplane. I'm sure various WWII planes did receive a semigloss spray job of sorts.
This B-25 would look so much better if sprayed with flat or dull paint. As if it just rolled out of the North American's production plant.

Yeah, I agree on the paint. The USAAF had them painted in non-specular colors. It is nice to see a B-25 restored with the hard nose, wish they had not put a light in the nose, the USAAF didn't do that either. It would be even nicer if the carburetor air intake, engine cowling and exhaust systems were restored to original B-25 configuration as well, but I suppose those parts are very scarce today.

brad kaste & stansdds: I agree the high gloss overcoat is not a plus. This B-25N at this other museum is closer to the what might have been original.

The paint sheen is more realistic. Looks like a TB-25N with the turret moved aft to mimic a B-25C.
