B-36 disturbingthe Peace Maker!

There were alot of cool things going on at Carswell back when it was an active SAC base. I've seen alot of buzz jobs there, although the B-36 was way before my time. I also saw the F-16D crash near bomber row in the fall of 1989, while it was practicing for an airshow. I was with my dad at the time, standing near the Tower/Operations Building.

The Peacemaker was one of those transitional aircraft that captures my imagination.

For instance, I would have loved to see a combat flight sim dedicated to the Spanish Civil War because of the transitional aircraft it featured.

I was in The Colony yesterday morning between 10:30-11:00 AM as I took my Mom for her checkup.... I heard some deep roaring so I knew it was some kind of warbird bomber.... looked around behind me and BAM!! FiFi flying past at about 2000 feet.... heading north over Lake Lewisville. The size... WoW.... can't imagine a B-36.... though Dad can .... used to tell me about it.

Growing up a few miles from Biggs AFB (when it was open) I have fond memories of the 'magnesium shadow' as I was growing up. What a thrill it was when they flew overhead at fairly low altitudes. Man, were they BIG!!!! When they were overflying El Paso at high altitudes, you always knew. The sound was unlike anything I'd heard before or since. At times even the windows would rattle, and that's when they were flying in the 30,000s!

I, of course, had a B-36 plastic model along with many others.

Crash, she was flying a racetrack pattern out of Alliance airport as I was just getting home going down 35W when I spotted her. When I got
to the house, she was making a turn over me....quite a sight for the eyes and sound for the ears!

...In the photo above,..the B-29 looks like a midget next to the Peacemaker. As mentioned in various other past posts,...a good feature movie to see the B-36 in action is the 1955 release "Strategic Air Command" starring Jimmie Stewart and June Allyson. Some great scenes in the movie displaying this aircraft. Just wish there were more.

Ahh, glad someone else had eyes on her.... was wondering where she came from and was going. Thanks neighbor! :wavey:

Re: same

Man! I'll bet that buzz job rattled some dishes. My parents helped build that plane. My dad put the radios in it.
Cool video, i liked the part where it buzzed the house. I'll bet the pilots caught H--l for it too. :icon_lol:
