When you hit the air brake, the drag chute comes out!...
Ah! I was cruising in at 400kt and thought it perhaps a bit hot to drop the gear, so just absently tapped the spoiler key.
The effect as I mentioned was dramatic, and allowed me in over the fence at 220kt which I think is by the book.
I never did see the goings-on behind, and I realise this may have been Not According to the Manual.
Lucky the 'chute goes in and out an unlimited amount of times... ;)

BB: yes that is my clip, and you can have either centre and a huge bounce, or on the runway somewhere, and make it stick!
I'm working on it...
As to getting all the feet on the ground before popping the 'chute: rolling down through 17 deg AOA and watching the far threshold growing ever larger while you wait...
Early ejaculation is easily forgiven.
Can I say how much I enjoy the flight dynamics of this "Big, Bad and Beautiful" lady...
I don't know if it's 100% accurate, but in the sim it makes me feel exactly what you've read about her.
And that's what counts.

Postscript trivia: Due to programme cutbacks and budget creep, the unit cost of a B-58 escalated somewhat.
(Does this sound familiar?)
But wait! each aircraft ended up costing more than its weight in gold!
Sums it up , I love it.

We had input from the late Beryl Erickson, one of the test pilots of the B-58, I know Jay worked hard to get it handling right.

Wing_Z -- I have always been a big fan of this plane, ever since I was a kid. About 8 years ago, at a very unique "garage sale", I picked up a large model of a B-58, possibly 1/48th scale. Thought my wife was going to have kittens! It wasn't a kit that needed putting together, it was a fully assembled model with "working lights". That's right... very tiny LED's at each light position and the cockpit was lit as well. You just plugged it into the wall and placed it on your table. I still have the thing, although the missus won't let me bring it out of the rec room. The detail on the model is quite nice... I have no idea who makes it or where it came from.... there are no tags or labels on the model anywhere.

When I first saw the B-58 Hustler on the AlphaSim page, I had to have it. Over the years, from one computer to the next I have always had the Alpha B-58 in my hangar and have enjoyed flying it. It's much better after you've logged some time with her, and you know all her little quirks and her personality. And, you can finally set her back down on the runway properly, LOL!
