Yes that was certainly a good idea from Ron. He even split the crew member helmet texture so you can have two different helmets in one single T-2.
About the textures, some are my own imagination icon_lol and some are based on real helmets.
Especially the gold painted helmets the US Navy used standard late 50's early 60's, fitted with reflective red & white paint.

In the 70's we were issued red and white reflective tape (of the aluminum variety with a "sticky" reverse side). We could cut it as we saw fit to enhance our white helmet. I don't remember anyone painting a helmet (at least while in the training squadron). Some painting occurred post training command in the operational squadron (and of course instructor pilots had their helmets from their operational tour if they were not "plow backs"). What's a "plow back"? A pilot that got out of training and got "plowed back" into an instructor pilot slot!

Thanks Jay for clearing that up. Honestly I was in doubt whether paint or tape was used. Though that explains the non standard usage of the stripes put on the helmets, actually I did seen a picture of a helmet with pieces of red reflective tape cut in squares and put in some diamond shaped figure on the back of the helmet. :salute:

I am really looking forward to the new T-2. Many of us have a KNPA scenery installed (either Jim Dhaenens' or the MAIW one). We could really use a static and / or an Ai version of the T-2 for use with our new flying version. Any chance???

I agree they sit very low in your pic, but they do as well in the posted screenshots. Maybe its your angle of the photo versus the angle shot of the screenshot? Anyway, looking very much to getting this one too. Looks like Christmas will go on through January, with all the aircraft and scenry purchases to make. Great year for simming, with DCS A-10C, DCS BS2 and the wealth of FSX sceneries and aircraft. Not sure how I'll allocate enough time to fly and get proficient on all of them.

BTW, nice clear pic of the Buckeye. Are they still in service or been replaced completely by the T-45?
