The guy who jumped off a cherry-picker from the top of the finished Burj Khalifa/Dubai got all the publicity. The jump was approved by the operators of the tower, but he wasn't the first to jump. Two men had already jumped long before, when the towers were still under construction.

I guess it takes all types? Somehow, I question why anyone feels the compulsion to do that. Then I realize that not everyone is like me. (thank goodness :bump:)

me too.
yesterday i was working off of 3 sections of scaffold and i didn't like it.
i can remember being 50' up, walking across the top of a jr beam with my tools on my shoulder. (when i was 22 or so)
when did i become such a scairdy-cat?

theres just sooo much fun in parachuting, the adrenalin rush, it gets even more fun when you have to waddle out the back of a fat albert with a 100lb+ bergen attached to your legs :icon_lol: but i will agree, it's not for everyone, everyone has their own ways of enjoying themselves, me, heck a few beers and a night in with my girl, or a good parachute jump and i'm happy :icon_lol:

Here's the illegal version done during construction of the tower.

Oh. I thought you had linked to the video of the permitted jump.

Ah well, twice is better than once.

You only live once....I'd be game to give it a go :jump:. Done some parachuting and bungee jumps back many years ago and have always had a weird obsession with frightening the sh*t out of myself. :icon_lol:
