Battle of Britain - Royal Air Force update...

I have a Luftwaffe BoB and an RAF BoB frap done. Rami has seen the Luftwaffe and I will be sending him the RAF ASAP. If he thinks they're good I'll make them available for D/L in the CFS2 section.

To all,

The Hurricane missions for the Battle of Britain continues to progress nicely...as of now I have sixteen of twenty-five missions done. All that remains will be the Spitfire campaign. If all goes well...I should certainly have the RAF side done by the end of July.

As far as the German side, it will depend on how far I got beforehand with the missions before moving on to other projects, and how much tweaking the missions I know I finished actually need. Ideally, I'd like to release the German side by September 15th, but considering the need to build a bomber campaign from scratch, this may be a bit unrealistic.

Alternatively for the Luftwaffe there's "Bomben auf Engeland", which has plenty of accompanying film clips.

Perhaps Vera Lynn singing "Blue Birds Over the White Cliffs of Dover" could be added to the RAF version.

Finn,

Thank you for your kind words! :ernae:

Well, just a quick progress note before I shuffle off to sleep. There are only five missions left for the Hurricane campaign, all of which are just needing their dynamic elements, which won't take me very long.

For one mission, I am creating a Naval base at Gosport. All of my ports have been commercially-based, so I am making it a point to use different objects, and except for one section, to give it an entirely different look. You'll be able to notice the difference, trust me. The only "X" factor with it is its proximity to the Portsmouth GSL port, but if there is a problem there, I can combine the GSL file for it.

Then...all that will remain for the RAF side will be the Spitfire campaign. I am hoping that I can hold off on making a GSL port for Portland Harbor until the Stuka campaign, but if I have to make it for the Spitfire campaign, I will.

Have a good night.

Here is an original recording of Vera Lyne and the White Cliffs of Dover

Where in heavens name did they get all those authentic german planes???? for the Battle of Britain, i seem to remember that some were from the Spanish air force of that era...lucky they made that move all those years ago..... now I doubt a fraction of that could be assembled.

Here is a good RAF film:

Good morning, chaps!

I wanted to pass along that I continue to make progress on the last twenty-five missions, "prepping" them so all I have do to is the dynamic elements to complete them.

This campaign will have several improvements over the original incarnation two years ago.

First, Simonu's Thames River allowed me to place bombers over London!

Second, the inclusion of Robert John and SdC's London objects, coupled with improvements by myself and sc7500 gives you some real GSL scenery to defend or target, including the London docks.

Third, weather has been included that reasonably simulates daily conditions, as given by this website: http://www.raf.mod.uk/bob1940/calendar.html

Fourth, there are plenty of random chance elements as conditions allow for them. On some historical missions, I leave random chance elements out for the sake of accuracy.

And finally, there will now be a large measure of GSL port facilities for you that will dot the British and French landscapes. The new facilities for this campaign include Boulogne, Dunkerque, Gosport, Bristol, Southampton, and Portland, including the man-made breakwater. This goes along with what I have already created, including Dover, Ramsgate, Harwich, and Portsmouth.

I will update the GSL Ports package later today so that you can get a jump on installing the GSL ports that will be used quite heavily in this campaign package.

It IS coming, I will have it released before the end of Kanalkampf. :jump:

Thanks for all your hard work Rami-san! BTW: I finished missions 6 & 7 of my project to include adding the wind. Having a great time here on vacation too! :jump:

Okay folks,

My GSL ports package has now been split into two packages....

The ten GSL ports that belong in the Mediterranean are now in this package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=3524

The eighteen GSL ports that belong to Europe are now found in this package: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4315

There are several new ports included in this package for BoB, including Bristol, Dunkerque, Boulogne, Gosport, and Portland, along with a revamped London.

Additionally, I included the Rochford GSL fix in Kelti's Achim airfield mods: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=4056

You'll be needing those ETO ports for the Battle of Britain, so get cracking!

To all,

Aside from the GSL ports revamp and release, all 25 Spitfire missions are now "prepped" so that all I need to do are the dynamic elements and mission goals for them.

I also went back and altered four of the Hurricane missions to utilize the Portland GSL scenery. I can usually knock out about five missions a day writing the mission goals and dynamic elements, but I won't be able to start until Saturday evening due to some personal issues.

We'll see how the rest of this week goes...

Good evening,

Now that some of the constraints on my free time have evaporated, I wanted to pass along that I have completed ten of the twenty-six Spitfire missions, and another eight of them focus on the destruction of the RAF airfields, so those I can crank out pretty quick.

I will likely be looking for beta testers very soon, perhaps this weekend.

Continued progress...

Good evening,

Well, I was able to clear ten missions today, including all of the attacks on RAF airfields, as well as the two attacks on Central London. Only six missions remain...then there is still some work that remains before release.

Battle of Britain (RAF) beta testing

Good afternoon,

A few minutes ago, I finished the last of the 106 Royal Air Force missions for the Battle of Britain (RAF) pack that I will soon release. Because this is so highly anticipated by our ETO buffs, I want to ensure that there are no "glitches" which will prevent users from enjoying these missions to their full capacity.

Now, I am well aware that not everyone will have the time to test all of these missions, so I will offer a more efficient way to test this.

This campaign will be an amalgam of six different campaigns done over the years: August 1940, The Battle of Britain, RussBoB, Hurricane Scramble, and campaigns from Lenny Flank for the Hurricane and Spitfire.

Each of these campaigns will be included in the package, so that you can fly the linear campaigns individually, but there will also be a package that includes a combined, dynamic campaign file so that you can fly from May until October.

So for beta testers, these are the size of the campaigns...

August 1940 - 14 missions
The Battle of Britain - 18 missions
Battle of Britain (Hurricane) - 25 missions
Battle of Britain (Spitfire) - 26 missions
Hornchurch Squadron - 10 missions
Kenley Squadron - 13 missions

Now, you can feel free to sign up to test any one of these campaigns, and you do not even have to fly the missions, just make sure they load and that I didn't miss anything.

Aside from the GSL scenery, it is important to note that all of the missions have been hand-edited, so that the aircraft flights are such that each aircraft has a different level of aggression and experience. Some pilots, such as those mentioned in the mission briefings, are labeled by name, so you know who they are.

Please feel free to mention your willingness to participate here, but if you want the packages sent to you for testing, please send me a PM rather than placing your e-mail in the thread.

Thanks,

P.S. - Talon, I know that you have given me permission to work on and update your two campaigns for this...so please spare me the routine! :icon_lol:

To finish up...

While the missions are being beta tested, I will work on tweaking airfiles for carburetor effects, performance, and work on creating the dynamic campaign file.

I have to take my mother in for day surgery in Boston tomorrow, but I will likely have the Spitfire campaign ready to go by Thursday or Friday. The other campaigns just need a readme file to be created.

P.S. - Talon, I know that you have given me permission to work on and update your two campaigns for this...so please spare me the routine! :icon_lol:

Do you have proof of this? Was it in writing or a handshake? :icon_lol:

Talon,

It was in the back alley behind the diner. I believe a couple of stacks of Ben Franklins were a witness...
