Battle of Britain

Devildog73,

Is this a specific mission or missions? Is the Dornier available in free flight?

Not the Z2, only the Do17Z is available to free flight.
I will check all the Z2 files and see if any are not EXACTLY the same.

All missions and Campaign beginning mission.

The B25 missing is at all startups.

The only other issue I have thus far is my British UIRES do not load for some reason. The bmp and jpg files are there and I can see them when I look at the folder, but they do not load in the sim.

Okay,
Got the B25_Mitchell showing up.
Now the B24_Liberator doesn't want to be seen.

Still no Dornier Do-17Z2.

Now missing ie_ensign_raf and wep_internal_tank.

What's the deal with the AH_Hawker Hurricanes only doing 200 knots in level flight at 10,000 feet at full power BEFORE being shot up?
It should do 280 knots as top speed, so even 250 knots would be acceptable......but 200 or less?

Why are you trying to get a b-24 to show up in a BoB campaign :biggrin-new: ?

The Do-17Z2 shows up fine in my BoB load. Try this process of elimination:

Temporarily remove the sound folder from the airplane file and substitute a folder that has a sound.cfg aliased to one of the stock planes' sound folder. If it then appears, sound is the problem. If that does not fix it, do the same with the panel folder. If that fixes it, the panel is the issue.

Moving on, check the model.cfg in the model folder to make sure the .cfg file lists the exact name of the .mdl file.

And finally, check to see if the aircraft.cfg file section [fltsim.0] line sim= has the .dp and .air file names correct.

If none of that works, you may have a corrupted file in the mix.

Regarding the Hurricane. Are you referring to indicated or to true airspeed?

At 10,000 feet, Hurricane I w/ 2-pitch prop specifications are:

266 MPH / 231 knots indicated airspeed
296 MPH / 257 knots true airspeed

Slightly less by 6 mph with a Rotol constant speed prop

The best I can get out of the AH Hurri is 232 MPH / 202 knots indicated, and that's really nursing her along. Plus her CG is seriously off.

IMHO, she needs an .air file make over before she will perform accurately. But as a quick patch, you can make some changes in the Aircraft.cfg file.

You can add to the forward location in the "empty_weight_CG_position" line and test until she flies level at cruise speed.

You can increase the [piston_engine] power_scalar and/or [propeller] thrust_scalar number and test until she flies at the speed matching the specification numbers above.

P.S.

The ensign is in the IE_Airfield_Buildings_Library by Ian Elliot
The wep_internal_tank is in the km_P-40e_V4 and the km_P-40e_V5 packages

Did all of the below when first encountered the problems.
Thinking about eliminating the multiple textures and having each texture in its own aircraft folder.

Thanks,
I increased the power scalar to 1.1.

I will get the missing files from the library.

Lee,

Sorry, working again and keeping up on grad school work makes it hard to respond in a timely manner. Thanks to Captain Kurt for covering for me.

Minor fixes for the Bob package

First of all a huge thank you to Rami and the CFS2 Bob team for the fantastic BOB package. I'm a huge BOB era fan and have collected virtually every sim that has anything to do with that period, from the old Lucasarts game to il2 clod, haven't tried WOTR yet.

I'm not sure if somebody has already created a fix for this in the past, couldn't find anything, so I decided to edit the Dover cliffs texture so that the cliff top matches the rest of the terrain.

Included is a fix for the "FLOATING CLIFFS" problem which I solved after much digging, sorry I meant "googling".

I enjoy flying in virtual cockpit mode rather than in 2D, but the spitfire virtual cockpit looked very messy, with animated guages not lining up with the background panel 2D guages.

I've attempted to clean this up with this small mod. I've also added some minor detail.

So far I've only edited the Bader spitfire textures, but I could do the rest if there is any interest.

GET IT HERE:https://www.mediafire.com/file/k3c0n2ehk6mavv1/spifirevcpanelmod.7z/filehttps://www.mediafire.com/file/k3c0n2ehk6mavv1/spifirevcpanelmod.7z/file

Before installing remember to backup your existing textures.

Rince33,

I am tickled pink that someone is flying and commenting on all of this work! I am currently working on the Battle of France. I will include these updates at some point in the near future! :applause:

Thanks,

For Captain Kurt and Roxanne-21...Progress report

Hey guys,

Just wanted to pass along an update; I am currently in the final stages of fine-tuning that "lite" GSL file and getting rid of a lot of unnecessary gobs to cut down on the file size. Project savings in terms of objects overall is 50%.

There may be a couple of areas where you will still have problems (Central London, Rotterdam docks) but overall the results should be much improved. :wavey:

I hope to have it completed within the next several days.

Howzit Robert John

I've downloaded the latest issues. Great magazine by the way, lots of useful info. I've placed the Practical Flying pdf on my desktop for breakfast reading tomorrow morning.

I first downloaded the BOB package back in 2015 and remember there being missing objects. In 2016 I got involved in some modding for Bob2 wov which kept me busy for a while. Last year I revisited the CF2 forum and was pleasantly surprised by the easy to install Bob package which I immediately downloaded and installed.

I found some issues of your magazine that I downloaded back in 2015 on my external hdd. I had completely forgotten about this site. Thanks for the reminder. I'll install the new cliffs model asap.

By the way do you know if there is any way to prevent the "mission objective failure" window from popping up and ending the mission prematurely?
Last year I mucked about with the mission builder, trying to find a solution and got the impression that this was hard coded and could not be changed. I remember this frustrating the hell out of me in 2015.

Rince33,

It's not hard-coded, it's a function of the way the missions themselves were written by yours truly. Which missions in particular are you referencing?

I recently tried "august 1940- biggin hill stuka prowling" and experienced the failure window. I have all of the Bob mission packages installed and in the past randomly selected single missions to fly. It would be great to be able edit those missions with that function, so that it can be removed. Other than that your missions were brilliant, thanks for taking the time to create them.:applause:

Just one thing would make cfs2 bob perfect, mouselook. In cfs3 I used a program called mousetrack ,but it doesn't seem to work in cfs2. I used it in conjunction with Facetrack noir. I'll give it another try, just to be sure.
