Battle of Midway missions

While taking a brake from doing the readme on the cactus missions I though I would play around with two missions ,the fighter and bomber missions. Here are some of the pics of the fighter mission. Out of 15 times playing this one mission I was only able to make it home once. Here are some pics of the mission. Almost forgot,I was able to get all 108 IJN planes as well as all the U.S. fighters into the mission.:typing:

Hey Bob, I see from the photos what the problem is!

You got a Zeke on your 6!!!!!

Judging from the tracers, he is walking them in on ya...................:caked:

Are you trying to get us all killed, Bob? Once out of 15 tries, you say?

You scare me, Bob. You really scare me.:icon_eek:

Oh well. I guess that's what parachutes are for. Crazy flight leaders that want to fight the whole Jap air force.:d

I have an idea. Let's sit down, have a beer, and talk about this.:friday:

Maybe we don't really have to fly this mission. We don't need to win the war all at once, do we? Maybe we ought to stretch it out a little. The war lasts maybe 3 years, we live, we get a few promotions, we go home, go to school, buy a house, raise a family, sit around and talk about the good old days back at Cactus.

Look at it this way, Bob. The US will rule for decades after this is over. We got a wave to ride here. Let's not mess it up, OK?

I had to do a little work to the 1% Buffalo inorder to make it home. I just flew the mission again and made it back the second time and with three kills.I ended up getting two Vals and a Zero.Alot of it was blind shooting on my part, anyway that is what I call it.The two Vals were on the money but the Zero was just luck.I saw him and fired not knowing where he was heading but hoped he would keep on the same flight path.Sure enough he did and with out seeing what I was frinig at managed to nail him as he flew through my fire. The rest of the time Iwas just trying to stay a sim live if you know what I mean.:typing:

I am forgoing the Reality X module because CFS2 will do the samething. I do use the G foce effects in CFS2. They let me know when I am starting to over G the aircraft. As for the engine CFS2 gives me alittle more room but not much before it will stop the big fan up front because of overheating. It will even show oil comming out if I get hit in the oil pan or cooler.I have also found that you do if you are going to fight my mod zeros have to do alittle mod work to the 1% AC inorde to keep up with them. The way I set mine up I end up with some real fun and hard work inoder to stay sim alive.:typing:

In the real World the Zero was a better Fighter the the Buffalo inspite of what other have said and the Japanese pilots where also a lot better than than what we have been told as well. It was hard to survive. It took guts and skiful pilots to have been able to beat them.

by the End of the War we had the better planes and tatics plus better pilot as well. But it took time to develope. We always have degraded the Japanese Areal powers and thus we have depreaciated the achievements of our pilots that serve there!

This has been just a opinion!

Boath sides had very little respect for the others ability to fight. When it did come to blows boath sides found it was going to be a fight to the death and that the two sides would give each other a very hard time.At the start of the war Japan`s flight training was very detailed and very strict.Ours was to get the man into the air and down again without killing himself or others teach him enough aerobatics and ACM to make it look good on the records. When a Navy pilot finished flight training the hardest thing he had to do was land on a carrier, the Marine pilots didn`t even have to do that. When our pilots went into a training squardron you might have 60 students and 9 to 10 training aircraft.By mid 1942 this all changed. All US Army, Navy and Marine pilots had to have no less than 270 hours flight training with alot of work being done on aerobatics and ACM and VFR navigation but very little training in IFR training other than ground school.Because of this we lost just about as many pilots in bad weather as we did in combat. Many of the pilots had not had much time in the aircraft that they were to fly into combat and some had no time in the aircraft they were to fly into combat up untill the day they flew it into combat.Ens Gay said he had never or had any of the others ever taken off from a carrier with a torpedo untill they did it at The Battle Of Midway. The thing we did have going for us was learning to work as a team and the fact our aircraft were designed to protect the pilot.:typing:

Bobhegf I cannot prove this but I believe a little devine intervention did not hurt either. Pilots that where not as well train as their enemies where in the begining of the war all of a sudden through a mountain of corauge and a bit of little help from beyong where terribly effective in sinking three carriers during the Battle of Midway.

To me this Battle was the most important Battle of World war two secound only to the Battle of Britain.:wavey:

Just another pic I thought was interesting. This was taken after i made it back to Midway after the airbattle.I am now making it back more than I use to .:typing:
